Do You Ever Get the Feeling They are NOT Going to Listen Anyway

Do you ever get the feeling that those who ask for specifics aren’t going to listen anyway? This was one response to my Wednesday post. I want to tag her but not sure if she wants me to so I will leave it to her to reveal herself. 🙂

But honestly, I do feel this way too often! People ask me for help, advice, suggestions. Of course I want to help but I always add – It is going to be HARD WORK NOW & FOR LIFE. That is just the way it is – cut & dry. Gimmicks & quick fixes don’t last. Check the statistics! Many do just not want to hear that they have to work for it! Well, you know what – you have to eat well but with balance, you have to move, you have to WORK AT IT! Of course it may be small steps getting there – that is fine! Slow & steady wins this race because you learn your body, you don’t do crazy things that cause you to give up. You find out what works for you!!!

If you ask me, I am going to tell you the truth. It is just like the hormone change. People like to sugar coat it in the media. I refuse to do that because it was hell for me & I am still having issues years after menopause! I am going thru another hormone battle as I write this. Being honest, you just will never get it until you have gone thru it all. Classes & books do not tell the real thing!

BTW, this is a repost AND I AM STILL FIGHTING HORMONE BATTLES! Seems to be never-ending!

I know women want to hear “THE CHANGE” is not that bad. I know people want to hear that losing weight & keeping it off has a short path to victory. I WILL NOT PLAY THAT GAME WITH PEOPLE. I TELL THEM THE TRUTH!

OR I can tell you the truth! Hard work, changing your eating habits, patience, consistency, balance in life, finding what works for you for life is what works! I have lots of previous posts on this.

So – YES, as of today, Monday February 13th, it is the same. At 50 I thought is was UGH & every 3 months or 6 months or a year – it still got more challenging. At 55, I was like OMG, can it get worse! At 58 it was like HOLY CRAP, stop already & at 59 I am saying the same thing! 🙂

Listen, you all know I preach balance in life! I learned hard lessons from not understanding this when I was younger.

BUT HERE IS THE THING  – what are your own personal goals? Do you want to see defined abs & cut muscles. Well for this, you are going to have to get that body fat % lower & that takes some pretty clean eating. AT MY AGE, it takes almost contest prep eating for me & not going to do that if I am not competing or getting paid for some kind of job. When I was in my early to mid 50’s, it was not as hard as it is now but it was hard. NOW, it is tougher than tough!!!

IF YOU JUST WANT TO DROP WEIGHT & SOME BODY FAT BUT NOT SO MUCH CARING ABOUT THE ABS & BEING SUPER CUT, the eating does not have to be as tight. This is all up to you & your goals… well and you age! 😉

NOW SAYING ALL THIS,  I do know people on social media that are naturally thin & do not have the issues I have with weight gain & hormones like I do with age. Those people are not the majority though but they are out there. It is interesting because I know these ones trying to gain muscle but it is hard for them due to not being able to gain weight! I understand that it is a struggle for them but holy cow, I wish I had trouble gaining weight! 🙂 I have had to fight this weight battle my whole life!

YOUR PERSONAL GOALS SET HOW YOU EAT & WORK OUT TO ACHIEVE THOSE GOALS… STOP COMPARING TO OTHERS & PAY ATTENTION TO YOU & WHAT YOU WANT FOR YOU! IT IS NOT ABOUT ME OR HOW I LOOK OR ANY OF THOSE PEOPLE ON INSTAGRAM OR SOCIAL MEDIA. Do what is right for you and your life & lifestyle – what makes you happy and what you can live with FOR LONG TERM!!!

Anyone else feel like they get asked questions but people really don’t want the honest answer?

***Of course I have to plug my book link again, I really want to write my story but I do need help with a writer & publicist. My story is definitely much more than you have read on my blog! THX AGAIN to all that shared & gave!!!

Guess what JODY – My goal is to get as stacked/ripped/cut as you and fitness competitors (minus my stomach because sadly I cannot really feel my stomach, so it’s very hard for me to do anything with it – thanks to surgery and all my stupid issues)… But that’s my goal and I have been working it in the gym… And will be getting a membership to a gym in about 4 days… So as to equip myself with MORE machines, etc to really achieve this goal! You are certainly inspiring to me, but we are each our own person, so what might work for you, might not work for me! However, I would LOVE for your to train me one day!

    1. How exciting GiGi!!!! Just curious.. does that take you out of the running for some gigs in have to be thin Hollywood? I love it and YES, you know I preach do what is right for you!!!!!

      Well, my abs are never coming back due to age & unless I eat contest prep – NOT!!!! 🙂

  2. I couldn’t agree more Jody! The problem is our whole culture nowadays seems to be “screw the facts if I don’t like them, I like alternative facts better!” It’s as true for weightloss as it is for politics. If you don’t deal with compromise and tradeoffs, you can live in your own fantasy world but ultimately reality is going to bite you. You cannot have a lean muscular body withoug seriously modifying how you eat and move. But people keep chasing after miracles and magic anyway.
