This is my own personal cause & for those that don't have one, they may want to think about donating to one of the Sarcoma
Foundations below. My mother passed away from a rare form of cancer called Lipsarcoma. It is one of about 50 subtypes of sarcomas that affect all age groups from the youngest to the oldest. It is a
"a cancer that begins in the muscle, fat, fibrous tissue, blood vessels, or other supporting tissue of the body". There is no cure & funding is low because of its rarity. As some of you may know,
the rarer the form of cancer, the less money that is usually allocated to it by the larger organizations or the NIH (National Health Institute) as well as fewer people donate because they just don't
know about it. This cancer just keeps coming back, grows back where it already was & spreads to other areas as well. You can learn more about it at these links.

Gratitude Monday & the Sun; Happy Bday Time Again Too!
January 7, 2013
Welcome to Gratitude Monday. Each Monday, stop by & comment on what you are grateful for & how it will impact you to live a healthier life going forward. How it impacts you does not have to be food or exercise related. It can be in any way, shape or form! If you just want to write a grateful comment & nothing else, that is fine too. If your comment is the same as another one, so be it. Everything goes here.
First things first - the birthday shout-outs! I have 2 today!!! Happy birthday to my hubby's ex-wife - YES, we are friends & get along! Happy bday Gail!!! She is not a fan of pics right now so will leave it at that. Second shout-out is my niece, Jenny - hubby's brother's daughter. She is amazing young lady. She is working in Australia right now! She is trying to save the environment! Happy bday Jenny! Picture below.
Grateful for family for sure!!!! Also grateful for some sun this past Saturday. We have had some pretty cold & damp days for California. Winter can be chill here but it has been way colder than usual! We had a fairly decent day Saturday so happy & thankful for that! Sunday was a mixture of some sun & COLD for us! It was chillier than I prefer on but the sun was out! WELL.. except at my run time - raining - BOO! I would have run Saturday if I knew this was going to happen. The weather report did not say rain in the morn until later Saturday - too late. I am not good with during the day workouts so no biggie. I work out like a fiend anyway so this is not gonna do much harm.
Not to worry... I am going to take the rested legs & slam my leg workout today!!!! I might have already finished by the time some of you read this, depending, but it is going to be an awesome Monday all weight workout!!! I can't wait!!!!!!
Also thankful for my weekend cookie treats! I know, so surprised aren't you!!??
How was your weekend? How is 2013 starting out for you? What are you grateful for today?

I am grateful that this cold/flu or whatever it was had treated me with more mercy than the previous one and is almost gone. I am grateful for wonderful snowshoeing and skiing days in the mountains. And I am grateful for the rain. Unlike you, Jody, I like running in the rain. Too bad I have not been feeling well enough to do so. Reply to this

Ewa, I would run in the rain if I had the right gear. Since it does not rain here as much as there & I can usually get 1 weekend day without rain, well, I just don't invest in rain running clothes. Most of the time I can figure it out but the weather people got it wrong this weekend. Reply to this

Rain running clothes do not work. You'll be wet from sweating anyway. Try running in your regular running clothes. After frist few minutes it actually feels great. Really. Reply to this

I always wear a cap; it keeps the sweat off my eyes, shields my eyes from the sun or car lights when it's dark, and from rain drops. When I happen to run where there are real winters, you know, snow, temps below freezing, then a hood is a big help. Reply to this
