This is my own personal cause & for those that don't have one, they may want to think about donating to one of the Sarcoma
Foundations below. My mother passed away from a rare form of cancer called Lipsarcoma. It is one of about 50 subtypes of sarcomas that affect all age groups from the youngest to the oldest. It is a
"a cancer that begins in the muscle, fat, fibrous tissue, blood vessels, or other supporting tissue of the body". There is no cure & funding is low because of its rarity. As some of you may know,
the rarer the form of cancer, the less money that is usually allocated to it by the larger organizations or the NIH (National Health Institute) as well as fewer people donate because they just don't
know about it. This cancer just keeps coming back, grows back where it already was & spreads to other areas as well. You can learn more about it at these links.
Truth2BeingFit.com: Tighten the Butt/Glute with a Ball!
Tighten the Butt/Glute with a Ball!
Wednesday January 11, 2012
Before I start, I want to let you know I am on Pinterest now! HOLY COW - addicting! I may change over to the FitFluential page but not there yet because I had already signed up before I knew about our FitFluential page.
We all want a tight butt - one that does not fall & keep on falling! A pinchable one is what I say or at least to my hubby!
I have written a lot of posts over time about glute/butt exercises. One of them is right HERE with lots of links to other posts for you. We can do squats and lunges and split lunges and leg presses and step-ups and cable work and more!!! The all have the intent to tighten the butt & yes, legs too. Then we have some isolation moves that can target just the butt like old times moves - glute bridge and fire hydrants(dirty dog) and pretzels among a few of them. Definitely check out the WebMD link in this post for lots of way to work the glutes.
Today though, I want to talk about a variation to the glute bridge that I saw in Muscle and Fitness Hers magazine. It is a glute bridge with your feet on a medicine ball. Here is a video of it.
I actually put my heels vs. my feet on the ball but the way in the video is a bit easier. You can also add weight to your hip area to increase the intensity or even try 1 foot at a time. I have not done that yet!
I really feel this when I do it & a nice change of pace to add it in to my glute training. Another great thing - you can do it at home!!!!
Check out all my links above for lots of butt lifting & tightening exercises along with leg work as well.
Have you tried this exercise before & what is your favorite exercise to tighten & list the butt.
I have so many faves & to me, after 30 years of exercising, there is no one best.
For me, it is all about changing it up & doing a variety of exercises to hit all parts of the glutes. I will say that for over 15 years, I have been using a cable ankle cuff to do inner & outer thighs (adductor & abductor) & butt work and it never gets easier!!!

Love this so much thank you for sharing these links! I can do these!
The Pretzel looks very difficult and it will cramp me up fast! Any time I work my glutes like using the Fire hydrant I get terrible cramps at least when I did them years ago. Perhaps now that I am a runner it won't??? Reply to this

I do like using the stability ball, but have not attempted anything like that! I bet that would be a great exercise and I need it.

Diane - give it a try. Even without weights - hard stuff!

See comment to link to previous post, wink....
Yes, I still think low back extensions are a supreme glute hardener. I'm also big on 1-legged leg presses, done sslow and deep.

Roy - agree!!! I squeeze my butt every time I do back extensions & yes to the 1 leg press!
