The Inner Voice - CAN DO IT!

Thursday December 29, 2011

Sharing an older post again but hoping they will encourage you to keep at it!!!

It’s the ache in your lungs and the burning in your legs, and the voice inside you that yells ‘CAN’T’. But you don’t listen, you just push harder. And then you hear the voice whisper ‘can’, and you discover that the person you thought you were is no match for the one you really are. ~Unknown

Found this on the
Inperspire Blog. It really hit home.. makes you think, doesn't it!

OK, what does this say to you? Does it call your name? Will you heed it's call???? Will you push out of the comfort zone?
I try every day... as I say. I am always a work in progress - always learning. Some days are better than others. I definitely push out of my comfort zone in the gym but real life is a bit harder for me. I am far from being the one I really want to be but I try.... and keep trying. That is what counts.

As you head into 2012, starting right now, BE the person you really are, not the one that whispers doubts!!!

Will you listen & hear the "I CAN" call??? You are worth it!!!

What did you think of this article?

How do I stop myself from getting too philosophical here? I don't think anyone *decides* to give up. In my case it is often that lack of "you are worth it" feeling. "it" meaning effort.
So what is my motivator? Fear of going back I guess. Gee, I could write a post about that... maybe one day.

Ewa, I hear you on fear of going back to where you were but we also have to find the positive motivator too like how great we feel & how much more we can do... and.... a post coming up that says it a bit different!

I am not one to push out of my comfort zone; however, since finding my health and taking on the fitness life I do push hard in that area. I have slacked off the last few weeks and I plan to go back to my pushing.

I also push outside too, in my work I push hard and I am glad I do.

I reapet this phrase over and over to myslef, whether I am on my bike (which I am for an hour+ 7 days per week, or in the weight room (which I am 5-6 days per week): "Don't pamper yourself Roy. Don't pamper yourself..."

Comfort zones are not an option. I live and I each it...

I once read a story about a woman in counseling for habitual lying. Her therapist told her that whenever she told a lie she should immediately fess up and tell the person she lied to that what she just said wasn't true. I think that could apply when we make up excuses or tell ourselves we can't. Telling ourselves, "That was a lie, I can, I am choosing not to do it." might be the answer. Who wants to be that person, right?

Love the post and thanks, Inperspire does try to motivate but in the end it is all in a person's own mind. Happy New Year, the gym seems to be filling up with newbies. I always try to be friendly to the new people because I remember how awkward it was when I started many many years ago.
