Avoid Germs: Eco-Fit Training Mat; In Memory

Wednesday December 21, 2011

As my readers know, I have been testing some of the many Harbinger Fitness products & hope to test & review more.

A while back, Harbinger sent me their
Eco-Fit Training Mat for review. I have had mats in the past & many of them have this weird smell to them so I was excited to get this mat in hopes that it being eco-friendly, there would not be "this smell" that always bothered me in the past.

SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!! For those that don't have time to click on the link now, let me share the info on this mat:

This Eco-friendly foam is not harmful to the environment or to you. It is 100% recyclable!

The "Dual-Layer" foam construction increases cushioning without sacrificing traction.

The innovative patterned top layer is non-slip to lessen the chance of injury and strains.

The second layer has non-skid traction ridges to prevent slipping by gripping the floor.

Both layers work in harmony to provide 3/8" of cushioning, making workouts more comfortable and safe.

This Eco-foam is a closed cell foam that is 25% more lightweight than traditional foam mats, while providing the same level of cushioning as thicker mats. That makes it easier to carry and store without sacrificing performance.

The Eco-foam is warm and comfortable to the touch and can be easily wiped down.

Removable strap makes carrying and storing easy.

Honestly, I really love this mat. It is firm enough to meet my needs because I like a firmer mat BUT it also has a little cushion to it for those of you that don't like "hard mats". I LOVE the color too!!! See pic above. For tall people, it is long & I have way more length than need be for my 5'1" body.

It also rolls up nice with a handle for those that want to take it to the gym or another class. Me, I don't like using mats at the gym. If I do, I put a LONG towel over the mat so I don't touch the mat. Germs are a big prob in the gym. Perfect for those that want to take their own mat!!!

For home users - what more can I say - IT ROCKS!!!!

LOVE the most - eco-friendly!!!

Check out the Harbinger website for more great items to boost your workouts!

What type of mats do you like? Do you use the gym mats & if you do, do you put a towel over them like me?

FTC: I was not compensated in any way although I did receive the eco-friendly mat for free. The opinions expressed in this post are entirely my own.

In Memory: As I wrote on my FB page yesterday: We lost the husband of my hubby's deceased mom this morning. He was married to her for about 30 years. 3 to 4 years after her death, he found another lady to share his life with but we have always considered him family since he married my hubby's mom & after her death, of course, he was still family. We are so glad that he found another person to share the remaining years of his life & he was not alone when he passed away.....

Sending good wishes and good thoughts your way. It's always hard to lose someone. That said, every loss is a good reminder for all we have. Wishing you and "Hubby" peace.

RE Mats: I do my floor work on the floor. I'm just not a mat guy

It may take another decade or so for my old mat to disintegrate so I'll wait. I am sure you will have good recommendations then, and I am sure I'll be checking.

One of my gyms, where I used to take yoga and hope to again, had wipes you could use to disinfect mats, equipment, etc. I loved that! I had eventually bought my own mat, with some added cushioning, but broke my arm and went into shoulder rehab before I ever used it. Still sits neglected.

I have an exercise mat, but I actually prefer my yoga mat. My balance is such that I do better without soft & squishy between my feet and the floor.

Sorry for your loss...family is family, no matter what.

I don't go to a gym so no worries about germs in that regard. The mat looks like a great idea and I love the color!

I have often thought about the germ pool at fitness centers. My son use to work at one when he was in high school and he would have to wipe down everything with antibacterial spray.
