Exercise Tools Under $20; Triceps Workouts!

Thursday December 15, 2011

Before I start, I have to say a very HAPPY HAPPY 40th bday to my son-in-law!!! He is the hubby of the oldest stepdaughter & a GREAT GUY! Wish we could be there to celebrate with you!

On to regular programming:

OK, get your minds out of the gutter when you look at that first pic! To find out what it is, read on!!!

I am continuing from Tuesday with some great American Council on Exercise, ACE, workout ideas.

This SHORT video, 1:40 minutes, has 4 great little tools you can use at home or anywhere to spice up the workout. I especially love the last one which is fun for the kiddos too!!!! GREAT FOR GIFTS TOO!!!!!

HERE IS THE LINK TO THE VIDEO - Remember, less than 2 minutes so you can watch it now! Why not start right now too! DON'T wait till January!

FYI, the items in the video are:

1. Balance Pod- Google to find these everywhere!

2. Yoga Block - Personally, I could use these just as part of my flexibility/stretching routine!

3. Small Weighted Balls filled with sand: These are a great way to add a little intensity & "fun".

4. Reaction Ball - this one looks like FUN!!! If you Google it, you can find them everywhere!

While I am at it, let me share the ACE link for triceps extension with tubing. I know you all like to work the back of your arms to avoid that "waving"! They show partner assisted BUT I just wrap one of my Rubberbanditz bands around a bench or anything stable & go for it!!! Here is a video on the exercise. I can tell you that this feels way different than using a cable machine or dumbbell. I also can make it easier OR HARDER by adjusting by where I hold the band or moving further away - VERY COOL EXERCISE!

Here is a link for a bunch of triceps exercises with the Rubberbanditz bands. Of course if you have your own bands at home, just modify with them!

Here is a link from Oxygen Magazine for more triceps work!!! You can change these up by using dumbbells instead of barbells or a different cable attachment or hand placement. Just more to add to your "change it up" arsenal!

Want to share any inexpensive items you use to energize your workouts? I already mentioned some items I use in a previous post although some are more than $20.
