Buff Babies, Boats Sinking, Butter Shortage

Wednesday December 14, 2011

Before I get to "the headlines", I must say a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my father-in-law, hubby's Dad! We will see him this weekend to celebrate!!!

So, on to the HEADLINES:

1. Buff Babies:
I saw this while I was doing cardio in the gym & just had to share! I think it is cute. If we start then out young with good habits like food & just moving & playing, that is a good thing. I am not saying weightlifting too young but it is cute! They wrote this:

Our Buff Baby Dumbbell Rattle turns junior into a bench-pressin' body-builder! Never be embarrassed by "baby fat" again! Seriously folks... don't read into that statement (or send us hate mail) - it was just meant to be funny.

Your little one's curiosity will be piqued by the gentle rattle sound and natural hand-grips, while your sense of irony will be satisfied by watching Junior do 3 sets of 10. So… work it, baby! Measures 5.5 inches long x 2 inches wide. No phthalates, no BPA, safe for baby.

While I am saying this, I saw the cutest 2 year old rapper on a YouTube video - learning music & creativity early!

2. Boats sinking: Also saw this in the gym & really - again, another sad story about the rising rates of obesity in this country:

"Americans are becoming so fat the U.S. Coast Guard has had to raise the official definition of “average weight per passenger” from 140 pounds to 185 pounds to protect against the possible overloading of seagoing vessels.

The new definition of 185 pounds per person will go into effect on December 1, 2011. That means that in order to comply with Coast Guard weight limitations, a ship owner will either have to reduce the total number of passengers it carries or reduce the total weight of the cargo it hauls, or both."

3. Butter Shortage in Norway: Again, saw in the gym & the Stephen Colbert thing cracked me up!

"An acute butter shortage in Norway, one of the world's richest countries, has left people worrying how to bake their Christmas goodies with store shelves emptied and prices through the roof. The shortfall has been blamed on a rainy summer that cut into feed production and therefore dairy output, but also the ballooning popularity of a low-carbohydrate, fat-rich diet that has sent demand for butter soaring."Compared to 2010, demand has grown by as much as 30 percent," Tine spokesman Lars Galtung told AFP."

Stephen Colbert spoofed it & I was laughing & "cardioing" at the same time - A MUST WATCH!!!! So funny!!!

OK, how did you like the headlines for today? Feel free to comment on anything & everything!
