Great American Smokeout
First off, I want to than you all for your wonderful comments & birthday wishes yesterday!!!! I am very lucky to have so many blog friends out there. What a wonderful community!! If you missed it, I posted a new pic & some pics from my past as well!

TOMORROW is the Great American Smokeout day. Cher reminded me - thank you Cher!
From the American Cancer Society's website below AND they also have tons & tons of tools & information to help you!!!!
The American Cancer Society is marking the 36th Great American Smokeout on November 17 by encouraging smokers to use the date to make a plan to quit, or to plan in advance and quit smoking that day. By doing so, smokers will be taking an important step towards a healthier life – one that can lead to reducing cancer risk.
Tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the US, yet more than 46 million Americans still smoke. However, more than half of these smokers have attempted to quit for at least one day in the past year.
Quitting is hard, but you can increase your chances of success with help. The American Cancer Society can tell you about the steps you can take to quit smoking and provide the resources and support that can increase your chances of quitting successfully. To learn about the available tools, call the American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345. You can also find free tips and tools below.
If you recall, I wrote a post a while back on the effects of smoking, 2nd hand smoke & one many of us have not heard of, third hand smoke! If you did not read this post or have forgotten it, please take a read again.
My mother-in-law died from small cell cancer which is a cancer directed related to smoking. It was an ugly thing like all cancers are but cancer from smoking is preventable by just saying NO to smoking.
Make yourself & your family important enough to at least try to stop! You not only hurt yourself but the smoke hurts those around you. AND, god forbid you die from cancer, it is those that left behind that will hurt the most!
Will any of you that smoke be joining in on The Great American Smokeout. Please try!!!!!

I WANT A NAVELGAZING POST ALLLLL ABOUT THE WAYS YOU CELEBRATED YOU YESTERDAY!!!!

I so, so badly want my dad to quit smoking. He smokes the worst kind, too - Lucky Strikes. He is 70 now and I don't think he cares, but his breathing sounds awful and he coughs. I got him to quit years ago and he was tobacco free for a while, but then he started smoking again and has absolutely no interest in quitting.

I don't know anyone who smokes, but if I think of anyone I'll encourage him or her to quit! Smoking is so dangerous.

Very encouraging that the Hoka One One shoes are contributing to a good workout. I am always on the lookout for good shoes.
Great reminder about the Great American Smokeout, especially about second and third hand smoke. The smoke particles just linger on surfaces long after the smoker is gone. Makes me wonder if that's what caused my Dad's terminal lung cancer.
