Oh Crap, She's Up!

Thursday October 20, 2011

Anybody watching the Oprah Lifeclass series? I have been recording them & have watched some. Earlier this week, she talked about finding your calling. Honestly, it is a lot harder than it sounds. Some people seem to know from early on but most of us struggle to figure it out OR we just settle for what we think we SHOULD do.

On this show, one of the people she spoke with was the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos. He talked about " Regret Minimization". He said why he decided to try this "selling books online & this internet thing" - he wanted to know that when he got to 80 & looked back on his life, that he had as few regrets as possible.

Oprah went on to say that even if you have regrets now about things you have done in your life - THAT IS OK! The key is to move forward & try to have as few regrets as possible & you can do that by finding that inner calling. Not everybody gets paid for it & some lucky people do BUT no matter what, it makes you feel like you have found that missing link & you can then say you will look back with no regrets.

A friend sent the below to me & I had to share - LOVED IT! I love that last sentence too! Let's try to live with no regrets as best we can & get up with somebody saying that last line!

To
day someone asked

me if I liked you.  I laughed,

and I said, "Ha! That's

funny!  freakin' LOVE

that chick!she's funny

caringcrazy as heck

sweetbeautiful; she's

reading this email right now & I love her!!"

Send this to ten ladies you love!!

Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says~~ "Oh Crap, She's up!"

***********************************************************
Are you living with no regrets? Have you found your inner calling? I admit, I have regrets but I do have to learn to put them behind me & move on. As for my inner calling, I know what it is & am trying to make it real! At least I am trying! The goal - for people to say "Oh Crap, She's Up" BUT mean it in a great way!

Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was a very refreshing post to me. I enjoyed it very much. I didn't know Oprah was still doing anything, never been a follower.

Anyhow, I do not have regrets I do believe that is do to my belief in God and I am so thankful for His ways.

That's the only episode I've watched. I started the first one but wasn't interested. Like I do with Dr. Oz, I'm recording them and then deciding which to watch and how much to skip I did like that phrase he coined. And, her overall premise of the episode. But, to be honest, this new show is a bit spiritual or touchy-feely or too something for me. I need more "how to" and less about the feelings.

Karen, I only record ones I think I want to watch & that allows me to watch or not watch. I don't record them all - just too much space taken up on the DVR! I agree but the thing is it does present thingst to me to think about which helps me.. I have to decide myself what to do with it... I really liked the aging one that Lori mentioned.

I am a big Oprah fan. I have only watched a couple episodes of this series but I think its thought provoking.

I get what Karen said that it is touchy feely and it would be great if Oprah offered more "how to" as Karen stated.

I am not sure what my life calling is. I have spent my entire adult life caring for my family and that continues today! But what comes after my kids leave home? I don't know yet.

Tami, as I said to Karen, I like that it makes me think but I have to figure out what to do that works for me. I say your calling is a cooking show or even a how to set a table for holidays & every day show!

I saw a little bit of Oprah's show with Cybil Sheppard. Very, very good show and I wish I could have seen all of it.

Lori, I recorded that one & loved it. I don't record them all but the ones that interest me the most... I don't have space on my DVR to record them all!

Hi Jody, LOVE this. I have a few regrets but try not to let them over take me, as as for my calling??? Still haven't found it, but I'm looking hard. I do know what is NOT my calling - that counts for something right? Have a great Thursday.

Roz, that is a start - knowing what is NOT the calling. I wish I had listened to my inner self early on in life!

I don't have that channel and to be honest, I'm not sure I'd watch the show. I admire and respect her, but I can over-Oprah in a heartbeat.

That said, her underlying messages are generally good. As for me, no regrets, just some lessons learned.
