Holiday Help: Let's Get Started Early!

Wednesday September 21, 2011

Careful of the zombies trying to derail you!

So as I mentioned in my workout gloves GIVEAWAY post yesterday, we are into those holiday months that take us through the end of the year. We have Halloween stuff, YES CANDY, out on the shelves already and I have seen Xmas stuff out since August!

Have any of you already started to think: "Well, I know I am going to eat thru these months anyway so why should I work harder now ... OR maybe I should just give up till the new year".

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Please don't think that! Do you have a goal in mind or maybe you are maintaining. Why add more pounds & then have to get off even more weight! Just a few pounds becomes uncomfortable when we pull on those pants, right!!!

A better option is to be consistent & diligent with your workouts & food now AND thru the holidays so that you either continue to lose or at least break even. At the worst, maybe up just a couple pounds.

Some of you even make a decision to enjoy yourself at the holidays within reason. Hey, that is cool. If you decide to pick certain events to enjoy, do it, own it & move on. BUT, no reason to start enjoying the holidays before they even start! Some may make a decision to get a few more pounds off than they had planned to give themselves some leeway to enjoy the season.

The point is that why not start right now keeping consistent with that food & exercise plan so you go thru these crazy months feeling good & healthy!

With the fun & beauty of the season, also comes stress - work, parties, family, money & more. Doing your best to at least stay consistent & not give up totally will make you feel better both physically & mentally at the end of the year & starting into the new year.

Hey, I have my Harbinger workout gloves giveaway to help you! Remember, you can use those gloves for more than just lifting like Lori who uses them for biking. PS: I have heard from some readers that they have trouble commenting at times on my blog. If you try to comment & have probs, just email me & I will add you into the giveaway!

Tomorrow, I have my Rubberbanditz giveaway - a gym in a bag - that you will be able to use at home, on travel, in the gym, at the park & just about any place you want to use it!

Let's stay motivated & consistent no matter what! You may not be able to do it all come the season BUT you can take care of yourself too! You are worth it! Break it up into 10-20 minute increments 2-3 times a day.. or even once if that is all the time you have that day. My gloves giveaway & tomorrow's giveaway will help you through!

So, anyone out there already thinking about giving up due to the holidays or are you thinking how you CAN DO IT even if you have to modify!!!

For those that wonder about me, I just tend to eat the same way all year round. Like always, I plan for my treats but in general I really don't go too crazy. That is just me. At 5'1" & age hormones gone wild, , I prefer it this way. Plus, honestly, I feel like crap when I just go too hog wild! My tummy does not like it! I am the same way on vacations too. I enjoy but within reason for me.

I for one am not a Holiday over indulger since losing my weight. If anything I do much better around that time. Weird, but glad! I have enough trouble trying to stay out of chocolate every day, so why add to the issues.

Sheri, I do better at the holidays too. I think I am so focused on not eating too much that I just am extra careful!

I've been trying to figure out if there is a way I and my family could celebrate holidays without focusing on food. I (but not my family) would be happy with a good hike or something. There *must* be a way to make those days feel special and not have to do it at the dinner table.

Ewa, that is what we need to do - get away from that food has to be the way to celebrate everything!

Great!! Like you, I've been recommending establishing healthy eating habits that will sustain us throughout the year, feast or famine.

Last year I gained weight thru the holidays. This year I WILL NOT. But, my plan is to eat well every other day and allow myself to indulge on the big holidays. I know some would not agree with that plan, but it's what I'm thinking right now. We'll see if I change my mind when Thanksgiving rolls around

Yes, I think that is the best way to go...eating roughly the same thing everyday, With a small selection of 'go to' meals at roughly the same amount of calories....

For me it's when I go away on a holiday that I have trouble staying on track. Now that I'm back into a routine things are coming back together...and I am ridding myself of the few pounds I picked up while away on my holidays. I'm looking forward to fall - time to kick some ass

I love Christmas indulgence! I balance it by toeing the line extra vigilantly before and after and working in extra exercise when I can. It seems to work well for me. So far.

I like the special foods at holidays, but I have to put certain limits on myself. Like no candy corn before October 1st. No eggnog lattes before Thanksgiving, etc. Otherwise I could be stuffing my face since the beginning of September through New Years!
