Gratitude Monday: Grandkids, Anniversary, Hurricane

Monday August 29, 2011

Welcome to Gratitude Monday. Each Monday, stop by & comment on what you are grateful for & how it will impact you to live a healthier life going forward. How it impacts you does not have to be food or exercise related. It can be in any way, shape or form! If you just want to write a grateful comment & nothing else, that is fine too. If your comment is the same as another one, so be it. Everything goes here!

Today I am grateful for a few things.

First for my hubby that I met on this day 30 years ago. We married a couple years after we met so yes, this October will be our 28th wedding anniversary! LOVE LIVES ON! My hubby is going to be mad that I put that honeymoon pic on here again but I like it!

I am also thankful that my very dear friends that got caught in Hurricane Irene when it hit the Bahamas are fine & well!!! They were on vacation at a resort so they were taken care of well and were actually drinking champagne & eating chocolate covered strawberries as the storm approached! Way to embrace the adventure! They have just the best attitude ever! Here is an after pic & they found this beautiful shell in tact. A great reminder to bring home!

I am also grateful for the time we had my middle stepdaughter, hubby & 4 grandkids here in CA. They started out here & then moved to Idaho due to the cost of living. Well, 15 months ago they came back because they really wanted to be here but the hubby was just not able to find a living wage job for the whole family here. Unfortunately they are headed back to Idaho TOMORROW but the hubby has a job. Grateful for the time with them here & that the hubby has a job again. We will miss them though! Unfortunately they will be gone for Mom's & youngest grandson's (sitting next to oldest granddaughter) bday in September. Good for them that the oldest stepdaughter, her hubby & other 3 grandkids & other Grandma are in Idaho. Oldest grandson's bday is in September too so they can all celebrate together!

What are you thankful for today?

I'm happy that my family all got through Irene's visit all right! My dad was stuck in Philly for a couple of extra days as all flights were canceled. My northeastern relatives just hunkered down. The hurricane totally missed here, and my brother lives in California and you know how people who live there are

I am grateful for the advice and support of all out there. Without them the reality of suffering a set back and regaining some hard lost weight back would be near impossible to accept and rebound from.

Great pic of you and your hubby, Congrats, it is nice to see people still have long term love. There are so many things to be grateful for in everyday life but today I am grateful to have had time with my family over the weekend, my son lives out of the house and my daughter works and goes to school, so it was nice of the stars to align and we all got to go out boating this weekend and spend some really fun time together. Thanks to you Jody for your posts, it gives me time to stop and think I am glad all your family and friends are doing well.

This is the best way to start the week! You/ we all have so much to be thankful for. I'm thankful for the fact that the hurricane wasn't bad and that NYC is safe and sound. I'm also thankful for the fact that I'm now more prepared for an emergency.

My husband and I were talking last night while out for a walk about how we are both glad to be where we are right now. Our home, our life and our time together are so *good* for us right now...like we've grown to fit them and they'r ejust our size . I really feel don't need to chase the "next big thing" because honestly, I like what I've got right here

Today I am grateful for the weight loss that I have lost too date. As much as I dwell on the negative about "being fat" I know I am not and am very pleased to see me where I am. For my health first then vanity.
