Multitasking Workouts
Thank you all for your wonderful comments yesterday! I was warned by the dentist that the swelling would get worse before better & that is turning out true to their word! I am quite a site - not a pretty one either! They also said bruising may occur but not yet. Let's just say I am not walking outside the house right now. Might scare the neighbors! The pain on one side is pretty bad. This happened when they pulled the teeth too. The right one hurt but not the left & once again the same.
I am one that really did not take many pain meds thru my life. Even during "the monthly", I would only take them if I was in really bad pain. Well, when the tooth was pulled & I turned down prescription pain meds cause I don't like to take them, I was taking Advil every 6 hours - my poor bod was not used to it & I had a reaction! So, this time around, I am really pushing myself to make it to every 8-10 hours. It is only the one side but it HURTS!
Anyway, I was so sure I was going to be fine that I did not plan enough posts in advance & my mind is not in the thinking mood SO a friend of mine offered up this & I loved it! I think I wrote about something similar way back when but it was a long time ago. My friend wants to stay incognito so I am honoring that wish but she is a doll!
Exercises you can do while you're brushing your teeth or standing in line:
1) Kegels (hey, it's good for men too! Google it or click on my link for a post I did on kegels!)
2) Toe lifts (works the calves, butt if you squeeze, core if you hold it tight!)
3) Picking up a washcloth or socks with the toes (to work the arches)
4) Butt clenches (Work those glutes. Need we say more - we all want buns of steel!)
5) Standing on 1 foot at a time to work on balance - Ah, balance - yes we all need this! Many bloggers have written about it & the ole closing the eyes & standing on 1 foot thing!
See below.....
5A) Same as above but with the eyes closed (yes, it does make a difference)
6) Sucking in the abs and holding them in (never can have too much ab work)
7) Squeezing a washcloth or ball with the free hand.
8) Pointing a foot and making circles clockwise/counterclockwise with the foot
9) Holding out the free arm and making arm circles (large/small)
10. Squeezing a towel or ball between the thighs for inner thigh, core & butt work depending on how you do it
So, obviously, some of those exercises cannot be done in public unless you want ALOT of attention!!! ![]()
Oh, from me, Jody - don't forget you can squeeze those glutes while you are in the car too!
What exercises if any do you do while brushing your teeth or standing in line or sitting in the car - PLEASE SHARE!
Thx to my friend who does not want to be famous! ![]()

Fun tips! Hope you are pain-free soon!

I wasn't doing any but will start today! I'm laughing at the image of butt clenches in line... because you can see those!

Karen - well, you can do the butt clenches at home or in the car OR if you are out, have your butt facing a wall!

I do calf raises while washing dishes or standing in line or just looking out the window. I'm sure it annoys people, which makes it more fun.
I don't LIKE taking pain medication either, but I dislike extreme pain even more and it makes my BP go up. Have you considered trying any of the other OTC pain relievers?

Sorry you are in so much pain! I will make sure to put a Pixie picture on the blog tonight for you
I was so scare to take Aleve after I got off my narcotics when I hurt my back because my FIL ended up in the hospital with emergency surgery after taking it, but you can take those less often than Advil because they are stronger. Maybe give those a try. Worked better than Advil for me.

That's SO funny! I'm short, so I stand on my toes a lot... But I have been thinking about ENGAGING my abs in the car, couch, work, etc. I hate traditional ab work - ha!
