Journal Your Body & Honesty
First, thank you for all that joined in Gratitude Monday. I will make it a regular part of my blog each Monday for as long as people want to comment on it. Next Monday I will explain more why I decided to do this.
Your body keeps an accurate journal regardless of what you write down.
I saw this somewhere & wrote it down. I think it says quite a lot.
I am all for food, feelings & exercise journaling. Writing down the food we eat & how we are feeling when we eat can tell us why we make the choices in the food we eat & how much of it.
BUT that journal is only as good as the words you put down on it. If you really want to take advantage of logging your food to understand what you are eating, how much of it, the make up of it, why you are eating it & what your feelings are at the time - well, you need to be honest with what you write down. You are not helping yourself by fudging it - by not getting real.
As the quote says, your body is a reflection of what you put in it (mind & food wise) & how you move it each day. Just because you write something else down does not mean it is so.
Do yourself a favor & don't sell yourself short. If you do, your body will tell you otherwise.
Have you fudged on your logging before? Do you sell yourself short by not getting real with yourself?

this is so true Jody! if we're not honest with ourselves, who will we be honest to? it's about our own accountability, and for those that lie in their food journals, especially those that lie in their food journals to their medical experts who are trying to help them, are only hurting themselves. stop hurting yourself, and get honest! great post!!

Cher, your point about telling the doc things that are not true OR just holding back.. not good for sure!

I was quite good and never lied in my journal but stopped keeping it. The problem was that I never went
back to analyze the data so there was no point. I always know when I cheat with my diet and I DO remember it without having to write it down.

Ewa, I am like you - I remember what I do eat & not eat for sure!

Ah,,,I just started so NO I haven't fudged anything. My feelings on that matter is why bother writing it down if your not going to be honest with yourself.
I have found just in 2 days that writing in my journal my day and my feelings has helped me already. Its an outlet that I never had before and I like it.

People look like what they do is the way I see it when it comes to health and fitness aspects that we can control.

Dr. J - yes, we are what we eat & do for the most part unless medication or something like that comes into play...

I LOVE that saying!! I'm writing it down now
I think the most important thing for me was getting a food scale so I could really, really be objective about my portion sizes!

Sable, I am all about portion control! It really makes a difference!

I'm sort of laughing inside when I read this because when I was journaling food I was honest in what I ate but if I didn't want to be honest I just stopped the tracking altogether!

Karen - you are too funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT, this is what a lot of people do.. and it does not help in the long term... we all know that!

Hmm, have not been dishonest about logging, do not get those that fudge. but I have done what I consider to be just as bad. When I have had an off day, I have just not logged the day at all. Oh the horror of such behavior. You cannot wipe away bad days, they stay with you, literally. Logging them allows you a better chance to reflect, revisit, and rebound from the bad day.

Patrick - great comment there about how the logging lets you reflect on it all! Thx for sharing!
