Training with Gunnar Peterson-Pictures!

Wednesday April 27, 2011

First - Don't forget about my happiness post yesterday. Send in your pic. I already have a few & loving them!

If you recall my Gatorade post last week, I said I had some more things to share this week about that G Series FIT product visit. I also got to have some fun while I was there.

For those that are my age or even younger, you may know the name Gunnar Peterson. He has trained & still trains many "stars" along with many professional athletes. Well as part of my visit, I got to spend some time not only tasting the products but also time working out with Gunnar too!! Of course with my love of weights, I LOVED THIS!!!! He had so many different machines in his gym & got me on some to use. I don't have pics of all of it because Gatorade was taking the pics but suffice to say, I was in heaven!  I even got compliments on my form & him saying he could tell I was "a clean eater". I loved it!

The pic above is me with Gunnar (blonde hair) along with Ryan Lochte, a six time Olympic swimmer who is also headed to the 2012 ones as well! He is representing the Gatorade products along with Coco Ho, a professional surfer and Allyson Felix, a gold medal Olympic track & field athlete. I saw both of them at an evening party & got a pic with Allyson! That may come in another post.

I had time to chat with Ryan & he is such a nice guy! During training season, he swims both morning & afternoons (at least 6 hours). On off days he also weight trains. I think you can see that from his pic above! He also told me that he went to Washington, D.C. and lobbied for the passing of the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Care Act. Ryan is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for research for the charity Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy:

Ryan is also spokesperson for the Mac Crutchfield Fund, a local charity that provides scholarships to high school seniors. Mac Crutchfield was a 12 year old boy and a swimmer for ATAC, who drowned in a rain storm in August 2008 -  http://maccrutchfieldfoundation.com/. Ryan really is a down to earth guy!

Gunnar, well, he felt my love for weights & we had a great time chatting & "working out". I was surrounded by people & cameras & I don't think I saw one of them because I was so focused on talking to Gunnar & LEARNING! Very rare for me to not worry about myself & a camera aimed at me! Some pics below:

Getting shown a little tweak to the machine preacher curl - biceps.

I showed you this one before in my tease post. It was a Kaiser air machine but with a bit of a tweak for his gym & Gunnar was showing me some individual leg work with positives & negatives - very cool!

Now this was the coolest machine ever! Ya see me all inside that sort of space suit? Let me tell you - amazing! Gunnar uses this for sports rehab or overweight clients or clients with joint or knee issues - all kinds of things like that. It is a treadmill & he can take the load of your joints or feet in my case so that a person can still walk or run without the pounding on the injured area. He showed me how this would help me & my poor feet. I could have run forever! Man, would love to have this to help my feet!!!

Tasting the products & talking to Ryan!

Again - a chance to chat with Ryan after my workout. Such a sweetie!

Below, a couple pics of the hotel gym which I was lucky enough to use! They had machines, stability balls, balance boards & more. Also had the Kinesis equipment which I tried to figure out myself. I was there when the gym was unattended. Pretty cool stuff.

Gunnar's gym was close to 2 miles form the hotel & since I was out by 2:30ish & the day was beautiful, I decided to walk back to the hotel which took me through the below area. More on that in a different post - hopefully next week!

Anybody seen or heard of that contraption of a treadmill that I loved! Have you heard of Gunnar Peterson? Have you worked out with a trainer to the stars & if yes, did you find it a good experience?
