Nothing Changes.... Do You?

"Nothing changes if nothing changes" - from the show Addicted to Food.

Quite an all encompassing statement. It says a lot to me. I have changed my hair color, ,  my job, my workouts, my food & more numerous times and each, there was a reason. Each had a purpose in life for me at that time. BUT what does the above statement say to you?

Have you been there & done that - not tried to change at all & then looked back to ask why things are not better or why you have not lost the weight you had hoped to lose by now? OR, did you keep doing the same things that did not work before with the same outcome - not working again. My many insanity posts - "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing year after year and expecting a different result".

What does the nothing changes statement mean to you & how have you turned it around? How did that turn around change your life?

I have a Happiness with Yourself assignment tomorrow - a fun one so please check back!

for me it is the same as 'whether you think you will succeed or fail---you are right' (ok I quirked up the quote )

so much of life is in our hands...and the choices and changes we make DICTATE the lives we lead

Your first comment made it Carla but I will leave this one too since you added to it. Yes - choices! I have made some bad ones that set me back & some good ones that helped!

I use to be the person to put things off for tomorrow and when it came never did it. Usually regarding losing weight and working out. I am so glad I am not that same person any more!

For me, it was making little changes that made little changes, and over time, it had big results. From weight loss, to my A1C levels, cholesterol and other health factors.

I always see friends online that hit plateaus or are complaining they are doing this or that and not losing weight, and when I give them suggestions, or links to sites that may target their issues, they always say.. "well, I'm doing this or that, but thanks anyway." Ummm.. hello?? If you're on here complaining, how's that working out for you?? LOL

That statement is so true. I have lived and died by that statement over the last three years. I made the changes, and things changed. I am struggling making the changes that need to be made now, and guess what? Things aren't changing much yet.

I first saw Einstein's insanity quote about the time I started blogging and it still resonates for me. I think my issue with change, depending on what facet of life, is that I can initially resist some and other change I tend to accept but then fall back to life before change.

One of my favorite quotes is of course from hockey (sorry to hear the Ducks are done)...
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
    -Wayne Gretzky

Sometimes the biggest change we can make is believing we can in fact take a shot and possibly succeed.

Patrick, I love your comment! I love that quote too! I have it in my quote list. And yes, Ducks gone - hubby is sooooooo mad at the coach & the way he coached the team.

Les Brown's "If you want to keep getting what you are getting, keep doing what your are doing," is the one I use. Something else, that I once read, is a good reminder however, "Be careful that what you see as a change is not just the same behavior in a different disguise!"

Great post! For so many years I either JUST dieted & didn't exercise or JUST did cardio & dieted and kept wondering why nothing was changing, why my body looked the same... thankfully I have an amazing husband who has been bodybuilding for YEARS and taught me how to lift.

Yes! I was lifting weights early on but not like what I did on my 30's. It really makes a difference along with the food of course!
