Blogger Causes; Happy Bday; Jamie Oliver

TGIF Friday April 8, 2011

First off, another bday in the family! My oldest stepdaughter, Stephanie, is celebrating today! One of her daughters is the one that said she wanted to be strong & healthy like Nana!!! Isn't she beautiful! Wish we were there but at least we will see you all this summer when you visit!

I also want to use this post to highlight some very important causes out in the blog world.

1. Cher is doing a March of Dimes - March for Babies. Her son was born very premature & they helped her immensely!

2. Cancer in so many forms. My mom died from liposarcoma & you can see all my links on my side bar. LIVESTRONG is also a great organization. Also, please keep good thoughts for Patrick as he continues to be tested about his skin cancer battle. Wear your sunscreen!

3. Ryan, from No More Bacon, has an autistic son. He wrote a great post HERE.

4. Want to add that Jamie Oliver is back! Let's help the kids!!! “Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution,” takes on Los Angeles when it returns for its second season on Tuesday, April 12 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) on the ABC Television Network. his overtures towards the local officials at the Los Angeles Unified School District are rebuffed, so he must rethink his approach. He opens Jamie’s Kitchen, located in Westwood, where he’ll provide educational resources and information to help families and individuals combat the obesity epidemic by learning to cook fresh food quickly and inexpensively." From Jody - this is my neck of the woods. I live an hour south of Los Angeles but have been reading & hearing about this on the news.

I know there are other ones I forgot about so please feel free to leave a link in your comments. Do you have a special cause & did it come about from a family thing?

Have a great weekend!
