Protect Your Skin!

Tuesday March 29, 2011

Last year I helped Eucerin get out the word about skin health too. It is so important to protect our skin. Yes, with have the whole Vitamin D thing going on & we do not want to be low there. Look into supplementation if necessary and talk to your doctor first of course! We all want to be protected from skin cancer. I have a dear friend that has fought this & is winning. Also, Patrick, my friend from blog land is also fighting it. Please protect yourself & take the pledge below!

Skin First Movement
Eucerin is partnering with LIVE! Regis And Kelly’s Run Across America with Ultramarathon Man Dean Karnazes! The Eucerin Skin First Express is traveling alongside to promote a skin savvy nation and the importance of overall skin health. The Eucerin Skin First Express includes stations to take the Skin FIRST Pledge, FREE samples, full product displays, a dermatologist and a video station to record skin wisdoms and tips.

Daily Skin Balance Body Lotion

Daily Skin Balance Lotion is designed to enhance skin’s health with a unique, patent-pending technology with provitamin B5, glycerin and pH buffer. It helps to strengthen the skin’s protective barrier and natural defenses, while providing 24 hour moisturization, and helps balance the skin’s natural pH level. It is lightly fragranced and has a non-greasy, lightweight, fast absorbing formula intended for daily use.

The suggested retail price is $9.99 for the 13.5 fl oz body lotion and $5.59 for the 2.7 fl oz hand crème.

For more information, please visit Eucerin’s Facebook page where you can obtain free samples and keep up with the Skin First Express as it travels across America!

I want to note that the Daily Skin Balance Lotion is lightly scented. I am not a fragrance type of gal. I like the unscented lotion but this one is not too bad although this particular lotion does not have sunscreen. Not sure why... maybe people wear the fragrance ones at night but I buy an all purpose lotion.

I do have an unscented Daily lotion from Eucerin at home that I like & use. That lotion DOES have sunscreen.

I also really like their Aquaphor Lip Repair which is part of Eucerin. I have been using it for just a few days & it has made a huge difference in my chapped lips! I had read about it a while back & finally bought it. It is around $4.50. There is no sunscreen in it so I just use it at night to heal or if I am around the house & not going out OR over another lip product with sunscreen.

Are you protecting yourself? What do you do beyond sunscreen?

Fragrance or no fragrance person for lotions? Obviously some people like fragrance since they are on the shelves & sell!

As much as I love to hear about good lotion, something that is overlooked with over the counter products is that MANY of them contain parabens. This is a very dangerous chemical and can cause all kind of health issues. If you are applying it to your face, this will clog the pores and contribute to blackheads and breakouts. All face and body sunblock should be a minimum of SPF 30 and be a full UVA/UVB spectrum block. I believe that most over the counter brands do NOT completely block the suns rays which should block up to 320 nanometers. Invest in a great sunblock the only true way to prevent sundamage.

Needless to say, on this vacation (Florida), I am slathering on the sunscreen a couple times a day! Thanks for the tip on the Aquaphor lip balm. I've tried their other products, but I wasn't aware they had lip balm.

I am a Fragrance Free kind of guy. I've found that when I smell like lavendar or cocoa butter (and wth is shea-butter?), smelling this way has an odd reaction at work.

Seriously, thanks for the luv. Enjoy nature, enjoy the sun; but protect yourself from it's risks. Hats are cool!

I hate when I put on a lotion on my face and it is scented! Since I have had skin cancer three times, I only use moisturizer with sunscreen in it. Mine has 25. No scent. Feels great. And if I am outside for activity I wear a hat and add a heavier sunscreen.

I swear, Jodi. Between our two blogs, with you giving a ton of great, useful information and me providing absolutely zero useful information, we average out to a decent amount of useful information. Go us!

I'm big on the lotion, but it can't have a scent and must have sunscreen. Even when I wear no makeup, Iknow I'm protected. It's hard to find unscented stuff for sensitive yet dry skin, but I've found a few that do the trick. I'm wishing I'd thought about it earlier in life, but it's betterlate than ever.

I love Eucerin. I have a big tub of it on my bathroom counter and a backup under my sink at all times!
