Today Makes Tomorrow

Wednesday March 16, 2011

First, thank you for all the great NSV comments yesterday! Loved them & it feels amazing - right!!! Grab onto that feeling to keep you motivated!!!

"Tomorrow is often the busiest day of the year."

For my long term readers, you may recall my many posts on how to make tomorrow today! HERE is one. HERE is another - this was my Einstein quote post:

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing year after year and expecting a different result".

In fact, Dr. J had another great Einstein quote in his recent post: “We cannot solve the problems that we have created with the same thinking that created them in the first place.”

And yet another post HERE. OK, and another HERE! You get it.. I have written a lot about this subject if you care to search my blog!

I came upon the quote above which really got me thinking not only of all my past posts BUT how many of us may think. Then I found that pic - TODAY MAKES TOMORROW. Love that! Below are some things we say to ourselves:

1. There is always tomorrow to start again.

2. This can wait till tomorrow.

3. What's the big deal - I can do it tomorrow.

4. I will call mom or dad or sis or the kid tomorrow.....

5. I will stop smoking or drinking or doing whatever tomorrow.....

Ya know what - tomorrow may not come for you or any of the other persons. I know, UGH, but look at Japan & I wrote this BEFORE that happened. TODAY is the day to do it!!!

In terms of weight loss & eating healthy, beyond the I am too busy or I can't fit it in, this is the biggest excuse - I will start tomorrow.

You know, all studies say that breaking up the workout into 2 or 3 smaller ones thru the day is fine too! You can do 15 or 20 minutes in the morn, take a walk or do some body weight stuff at lunch & then something else later in the day. Doing something is always better than doing nothing!

Make TODAY your busiest day of the year! Today needs to make your tomorrow!

Let's share - what advice do you have to help others make today their day!

Me, I say, just do something first thing in the morn even if it is just 10 or 15 minutes. Maybe it is marching in place or lunging in place or squatting in place as you brush the teeth or swish the mouthwash. Maybe do the same while the coffee is brewing... just something little will make you feel better AND mentally, the fact that you did something will carry on thru the day & make you want to keep it up.. a little can go along way... and eating healthy first thing can too!  I have been a morn workout person for many many years & it works for me.... but if you are not a morn person, just do a little something as described above to start you on the right track & hopefully that will carry on to another time of the day!

PS: Yes, Dr. J, I know you will say action!

Don't forget the Rice Giveaway!

Trying to live more in the moment, instead of projecting things out and making myself crazy over crap that likely won't even happen. That extends to only dealing with hunger when it happens; not worrying about the totality of what I want/need to lose. IF I get hungry now, not at a meal time, I simply stop to go within and examine the real cause of the hunger. If it's not stomach hunger, it gets soothed some non-food way. And I don't worry about anything else. Just focus on the now, and controlling what I do and WHY I do it!

Greatomment Carla.. yes, we have a choice! I agree, a new chance in 24 hours but why not right now too.. BUT if it does not happen, don't make tomorrow every day after that. tomorrow too. Make it a  choice right away!

Well, my advise is to "just do it". For me its now or never. I am going to heed my own advise too I've gained 10 pounds now and I am starting to get uncomfortable. So, today is MY day to start a low calorie, and food logging routine. Wish me luck!

Sheri, you can get that 10 off!! For me, just the feeling of my jeans when they get too tight is enough to get me moving & eating better!

There is only only to day to live in. We can plan for tomorrow but only live in today. For us weight loss warriors there is always just a Day 1, today is day 1. Tomorrow will be day 1. July 18, 2036 it will still be day 1.

Oh I agree with you! I used to put off to many things until tomorrow. And then tomorrow becomes the next day. Funny how that happens. One thing I do is picture tomorrow and how I will feel about what I did or did not do today. One very simple example: cleaning up the kitchen before I got to bed. Don't like to do it. But I really hate waking up to it in the morning if it hasn't been done!

    I could not agree more!!!

My #1 tip to make today into "tomorrow" is to schedule in your workout! You don't miss the doctors appointments you schedule, or the girls night out that you schedule...so do the same with your workouts! Every week, set your schedule and write it on the calendar so your family members know what's up and can plan around it too.

Sable - that has been my thing from day one.. I always scheduled in that workout like any other meeting or appt... and once gyms opened early enough for me to go before work, I was there!
