Non Scale Victories (NSVs)
Many of you have written about your non scale victories or NSVs as bloggers like to call them.
I was buzzing thru The Biggest Loser a couple weeks back - yes, at 2 hours long, way too long so I record & then watch. One of the contestants, Arthur, who was voted off already, showed off a NSV - just being able to get behind the wheel of his car without pushing the upper portion of the seat back all the way. Prior to losing weight, he had to push the upper portion of the seat back so far that nobody could sit in the back seat behind him.
I am trying to remember way back when I lost my weight. A couple things that stand out are when I saw my collar bones BUT the biggest thing I recall is when I wore my bra & there were no extra layers over the bottom band of the bra. I think women will understand what I am saying. When I was heavier, my stomach came way out over that lower band. Maybe TMI for some but it was a great feeling for me not to have that!
Now I feel great about accomplishing new goals in the gym whether it be a new push-up or a new weight move or a heavier weight that I have been working towards or HIIT on a cardio machine among many more. Outside the gym, just being able to play with the grandkids & climb up & down things at 53 is a NSV. Many can't do that even though 53 is not super old.
Lori had an NSV over the weekend too. Check out her post & there is a pic of it. Guess what the NSV is??
Let's share - what NSV do you want to share or share more than one. How did it make you feel & how did it motivate you?
Yes, I am a scale user but there are many ways to track our progress away from the scale too for even more "I Am Awesome" moments!
Motivate others by sharing! Don't forget my Rice Giveaway either!

First, I have to stay I love that sign. It is so "awesome"
I do have to keep an eye on the scale (because my weight likes to sneak up on me), but being reminded about the NSV's is really important. Thanks!

Every time my clothes got so loose I had to buy another size smaller was always the best. When I could walk in shorts and not have my inner thighs chafe against each other. When people started calling me 'Skinny Minny". All of those.

Oh my, I've had so many NSV's I wouldn't know where to begin.
1) The first time I had a calm foot night from Neuropathy.
2) Able to cut back Medications (insulin and Tegretol for neuropathy)
3) Collar bones
4) Finally able to buy clothes in the Misses department!
5) Able to shop without a wheelchair
6) Able to walk the trails with my husband and not worry about my feet pain.
....the list is endless so I won't continue. I just praise God for giving me the strength to make it through!

I need to step on the scale more often. When I do I hit my goals.

I've had bunches of NSV's over the past 11 months but none really in the past month or so. Then again one really cool act that I am calling an NSV is people like YOU. When people like me go missing for a week or so at a time, really cool people like you send us notes and help pull us back into the blogs and back on track. So YOUare my most recent NSV, thanks!

When I was fitness blogging my favorite posts to read were the NSV's. Even though weight wasn't an issue for me, knee pain was. My NSV was being able to kneel down without pain. I tell my kids all the time to appreciate their knees!

Great post Jody. It is sometimes the small things that keep me going, like, my pants aren't so tight around my legs, my butt no longer sags and yes, no more rolls around my bra

I LOVE when my lifts increase. My scale weight may stay the same or even budge up a little bit but nothing beats lifting a weight I never in a million years thought I would.
