Butt/Glute Exercises & Aging! Giveaway Winner
Before I start, want to let you know I will have MY FIRST VIDEO POST tomorrow! OK back to "regular programming" for today.
Have any of you seen this Poise commercial with Whoopi Goldberg? Made me think that I best do another post on other reasons you should work on tightening the butt/glutes and always SQUEEZE when you are doing any butt or leg work! I do!!!
Heck, who doesn't want a tight butt! Most of us women strive for it & men too! I can tell you that I have worked hard on that area since I was young and the older I get, the harder it is to keep it tight, toned & "uplifted"!
So, I was watching something the other day & the Poise commercial came on. I thought, CRAP! I know too much about this & I know pregnant & after pregnant women do too! But what I really thought was, I go thru 40+ years of my friggin life wearing all kinds of pads & crap for 7 days a month, every month. You think when you are younger that you will look forward to not having to wear them & then you get old & you still have to wear them! WTF!!!!! And believe me, when you get older, you will understand!
Separate from this post & another rant - we think we get past acne but it comes back to bite us along with my face that is growing a rug! OK, I digress!
Did you have a good laugh! If you are young or old, this should tell you that working to tighten the butt/glute area (and more!) is not just about tight buns! Do those kegel exercises too because now & later, a tight butt is going to help you in more ways then you want to think about now!!!! Heck, it makes sex better too! Come on, you know that!
From Mayo Clinic: "Kegel exercises strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, which support the uterus, bladder and bowel. You can do Kegel exercises discreetly just about anytime, whether you're driving in your car, sitting at your desk or relaxing on the couch. You can even do Kegel exercises when you're pregnant. Start by understanding what Kegel exercises can do for you — then follow step-by-step instructions for contracting and relaxing your pelvic floor muscles." AND - "Kegel exercises — along with counseling and sex therapy — may also be helpful for women who have persistent problems reaching orgasm."
Click on the Mayo link above for more info & how to do these exercises.
If you are a man, here is a link for Kegel Exercises for men or here from the Mayo Clinic.
So, you still want to tighten the butt? I have lots of posts on that too.
Here is how you can search my butt/glute posts: In my search area at the bottom of the green band on the side of my site, click on advanced search, search "all" for the time frame, search for title & contents and then put the one word butt or the one word glute in there. This search engine is touchy so I found putting the singular word in there for this search is best. You will get tons of posts & then you can pick or choose!
OK, now go do your kegels!!!!
Anyone want to share a kegel story OR lack of kegel story? What is your fav glute/butt tightening move?

I know I should look into those exercises. If I wait to long to relieve myself I can be in trouble at times.

hahaha!! Just makes ya think -- as kids we're always in such a rush to get older...lol.
My fave exercise overall (that happens to also work the glutes!) is the squat (lol betcha could've guessed). There's nothing like it!

Oh I can't wait for the video!!
In nursing school I used to have an instructor that was obsessed with stressing about the importance of kegals- she was so funny! She said for us to do them at stoplights and to look to the car next to you and wonder if they were doing them too. LOL

That Whoopie-Poise commercial was part of a survey I worked on and I couldn't finish the survey because I was laughing so hard.
All I'll advise is beware the surprise sneeze when you reach your 50s.

Kegels...that is too funny. I remember when my mom taught me what they were and how to do them. I thought she was crazy. Sometimes I think about them while I am in the car and do them and of course I feel awkward. I have found that when I am doing bridges they are necessary. It is amazing how important some things are. I absolutely need to do them more often. Thanks for the reminder.
