No Excuses

So the oldest grandkid (we have 7 of them) is turning 12 on March 10th. How time flies!!! We plan to get together this weekend to celebrate. With 7 grandkids ranging from 2 to 12, lots of times we head to a park that has lots of outdoor playsets & climbing sets that allow all the kids to have something to do & have fun on. The pics above are smaller versions of what you find at playgrounds. In fact, that is our plan this weekend too - park fun & lots of running around for all!
This is one of my fav pictures of the oldest granddaughter & me. I will post newer pics on my post on her actual birthday day.
The great thing about the kids is that they are very active. They like to play & have fun and it is not about "exercising". Not only do they just play but they are active in sport type activities that they like too.As we age, I think we forget that we can get our exercise from things we like to do. Yes, maybe you still do the running or the gym & you all know I love the weights & think they are very important BUT you can add in other forms of exercise or classes that are fun for you. A few bloggers have been posting about this recently. I have posted in the past about how there is always some kind of class or activity out there that you can find that you love to do - come on, you know there are - no excuses!!!
Some like to dance & there are lots of dance classes out there including Zumba which is a big thing right now. You can just ride your bike or rollerblade or hula hoop or belly dance or swim or kick boxing or boxing or just walk among so many other things.
OH, and yes, you can just have a playout as MizFit calls it!!!
What stops you from finding what moves you? Don't think that exercise has to be the standard cookie cutter stuff. Yes, I like the gym & that is my thing BUT we are all different & I am sure you can find at least one thing if not more than one thing to keep you moving and engaged, not bored.
NO EXCUSES! Find what is your outdoor or indoor playset & go for it!!! Are you making excuses not to exercise. Tell us at least 1 thing that you can do to change that - what do you love to do that "moves you"?
Don't forget about THIS GIVEAWAY for the wristbands and THIS GIVEAWAY for The Great Fitness Experiment!
I have to disclose as I have in the past that CSN stores offered me a gift certificate to use on their site. CSN Stores has over 200 online stores where you can find anything you need whether it be outdoor playsets, fitness equipment, or even cute cookware! I will be reviewing some items in the future!!!

I love the pic of your and your granddaughter. I agree with you 100% working out doesn't have to mean going to the gym or going out for a run (unless that's your thing). Last year I totally got into hopscotch (including making my mom find my old hoppy taw)! Sometimes I buy the plastic balls (the ones for the kids) at the grocery store and bounce them around for a week or so running up and down our street. It makes me so happy! Thanks for the reminder and the shout out earlier this week

I like what I am seeing recently from other bloggers. Yes, there is a lot of things we can do to exercise that doesn't always require the gym or weights.
I guess it all comes down to what you want that day. I know I like walking at the trails with my husband and dog on the weekends.

I love watching kids run around. I hate hearing mothers telling them to slow down or to stop jumping because they'll get hurt. No wonder that after all those messages we stop moving.
You are so right on finding new and fun activities.
Waiting for those granddaughter pics.

I love your "find something fun and do it!" attitude. AWWW...those little ponytails on your grand daughter! AWW!!! Look forward to seeing a "now" picture on her birthday. I'm sure there will be no ponytails in that shot! Have a great day Jody!

Funny how we somehow seem to lose that capacity to just play and move our bodies for fun as we outgrow childhood. BTW - been meaning to tell you that your blog has been showing up in my reader every day lately! Woo hoo!

Honestly I actually enjoy cleaning...I love that sense of accomplishment! I could definitely get moving and get cleaning more than I do, and I could DEFINITELY start doing a little more cardio. I love going for long high incline walks on the treadmill -- really clears my head!

Kids know how to eat (most stop when satisfied) and they know how to move. How did we unlearn these things? It drives me nuts when my kids are indoors when the weather is so nice. I shove them right out the door and I do try to follow!

A lot of kids only eat when they are hungry. It seems that for some its the parents that are always saying eat all your food. They know when they've had enough and they are or where always willing to go outside and play. Now we are in the digital age and everything is online or gaming consoles so they don't go outside to play.
As adults things that used to be fun are now a task or rather a workout. Playing volleyball, running, and being outside was all we wanted to do. Now it just sit in front of the tv go to the movies or relax on the beach.
