J World Laptop Messenger in Love PurpleAre you a laptop person? You know all the fantastic information on weight loss, fitness, healthy recipes & more can be found searching the web RESPONSIBLY so you don't get a virus. My hubby has one (I don't) but his laptop messenger bag is pretty BORING - well to me! You have to check out all these cool ways to carry your laptop at the CSN Stores site. I had no idea there were so many choices!!!! I was going to let you know my fav but I could not choose one. They even have kid laptop messenger bags! I know, I am the only one that did no know this!

SO, as you check that out, remember all the health stats & healthy information you can find including some very interesting & important ones below. No reason to be clueless these days! Just be discriminating with your research. Check it!

I also have to thank you all so much for your great comments yesterday! I so appreciate you all! You have amazing insight, all of you!

I came upon a few stats in Oxygen Women's Fitness:

1. Only 6% of Norwegians are obese according to the World Health Organization (WHO)...thinking is that is may have to do with a diet full of fish and veggies and... VERY LITTLE ACCESS TO FAST FOOD!

From Jody: Now that says something, doesn't it! You can make better choices at fast food places if you do the research. The better option is to bring your own food if you can as all studies show that those that do eat out less lose weight & keep it off more long term.

2. In 30 years, the rate of death from heart disease in Finland went from 5 in 1000 to 1 in 1000. Thoughts behind this: with some local government encouragement, the Finns cut way back on their smoking & doubled their intake of fruits & veggies. This was from Forbes.com

From Jody: Healthier habits, healthier you - no surprise. If you are having trouble, at least take baby steps to add veggies & healthier foods into your diet.

3. A meal in France is 25% smaller than the average one in America.

From Jody: We all know about the supersizing here & how large the portions have become over the years. No surprise here! Just because it is in front of you does not mean you have to eat it or all of it! Take half off the plate right at the beginning & put it in a to go container!

4. Average lifespan of the Japanese from the Okinawa region (longest in the world). They follow a practice called hara hachi bu which that they stop eating when their satiety is at 80%.

From Jody: Unlike many of us in the U.S. who keep on eating....... or like above, just eat it because it is there....

Average Women Poll from Women's Health Magazine:

1. 38 percent of women who break their resolutions in a month or less. The top 3 resolutions were get into shape, eat healthier, save money.

From Jody: Don't give up, just re-evaluate!

2. Top reason for not sticking with a resolution: Lack of motivation

From Jody: Come on! There are so many ways to move & get exercise that are not the traditional ones like the gym or running. Find a class or 2 or 3 that floats your boat as they say. Kick box or regular box. Get a bunch of DVDs that you like. The list is endless! Plus food, try new healthier foods or use spices & healthy sauces to keep you sticking to it. It takes work! Find your motivation! If you want it bad enough & it means enough to you, you will!

I think the lesson is obvious here & I said it many times last week. It is CHOICES in what you do & eat! Getting real & honest about it! Consistently BETTER choices .. CONSISTENCY! Food is a huge part of the equation so you have to take control of that part of your life! More "in your face stuff" from me today!

Are you taking the steps to get real & honest & consistent with your weight & health choices??? Any more suggestions for a "name for me"?

PS: Yes, I am doing a little something with CSN stores  that may involve some reviews out in the future. BUT HECK, if you are home & looking for a way to keep you from the kitchen, get on their site & start clicking around. Before you know it, that craving is long gone, 2 hours have passed & time for your next snack or mini meal!

Very interesting post Jody. It has always amazed me how way out America is on their views on food versus other countries.

As you already know I just posted a Portion Control post on my blog, and it is crazy what we are served these days!

I have to say, I am very proud of myself. I haven't gone to a fast food joint to buy food since 2008 before starting my weight loss journey.

Whenever I come back from Europe to the States I am shocked how fat we have become. It takes a combined effort of individuals and government (yes, government too) to keep societies healthy. I do so believe that if we insist on wholesome foods fast food places will have to replace their junk with real stuff that will nourish and not make us sick.

Interesting, informative post as usual, Jody.

One of the biggest steps that has helped me in getting control of my health and weight loss has been to get more cooperation from my spouse -- and to get over my own guilt about what I am NOT packing in his lunch. I used to make all kinds of wonderful treats so I could send something off to work with him everyday -- a carrotcake muffin, piece of poundcake or pie, frozen whipped yogurts (a woman he worked with actually offered to pay me if I would make these for her -- I declined). Of course, when I used to make these things, I always did a lot of sampling. That's over now.

For names, since you believe in Tough Love, how about Tuffie, or Tuff Luv?

I've been to some of those locations you mention and it's just like you say!

I think it would be more honest to call "motivation," I don't want to do it.

agree with Dr. J..be honest about the word "motivation"..I either want it or I don't.

I want it now..and therefore am motivated to DO it.

It would be dishonest to say I didn't have the "motivation"..I just didn't want it.

Julie, I have to agree.. I am not saying a person, in their own mind is not saying they want it BUT if you really want it, you will find a way to do it!

Very interesting stats, but I can't say that I'm surprised!

Last night John and I were discussing serving sizes. He mentioned that he just found out that a can of corn beef hash was 5 servings and he usually eats the whole thing!!!! Got be aware for sure.
