Question Your Thinking, Change the World/YOU

My sister sent me this article the other day & I thought, why not share. For me, reading quotes or different things often get me thinking & that thinking sometimes gets me moving & doing.. not always but often enough to for me to continue on my quote collecting roll.. since 2003! I know, craziness!
Some great quotes below & thoughts after that..... I would also add, question your thinking, change YOU!
Question Your Thinking, Change the World
“We are love, and there’s nothing we can do about that. Love is our nature. It’s what we are without our stories.” – Byron Katie
Byron Katie has written bestselling books including Loving What Is, I Need Your Love—Is That True?, and A Thousand Names for Joy. She teaches a process of self-inquiry, called The Work, which helps people question and overcome their stressful beliefs. She will be speaking at the November 2010 Celebrate Your Life Conference in Phoenix, Arizona along with Dr. Wayne Dyer, Dr. Doreen Virtue, Neale Donald Walsch and many more illuminating presenters. In anticipation of the event, we are sharing a few memorable quotes from Byron.
“Peace doesn’t require two people; it requires only one. It has to be you. The problem begins and ends there.”
———
“The miracle of love comes to you in the presence of the uninterpreted moment. If you are mentally somewhere else, you miss real life.”
———
“A dishonest yes is a no to yourself.”
“Placing the blame or judgment on someone else leaves you powerless to change your experience; taking responsibility for your beliefs and judgments gives you the power to change them”
———
“A mind that doesn’t question its judgments, makes the world very small and dangerous.”
———
“Nothing comes ahead of its time, and nothing ever happened that didn’t need to happen.”
———
“Anything you want to ask a teacher, ask yourself, and wait for the answer in silence.”

So, what do yo think of the quotes from this book? I like them all but I especially like this one:
“The miracle of love comes to you in the presence of the uninterpreted moment. If you are mentally somewhere else, you miss real life.”
Don't so many of us blog about "being present", especially MizFit!
I also like this one:
“Placing the blame or judgment on someone else leaves you powerless to change your experience; taking responsibility for your beliefs and judgments gives you the power to change them”
Do any of the above quotes "call to you"? Do you get motivated to "DO" by quotes? What external things do you use for motivation? I know many have visions boards. Others may post "heavy" pictures of themselves on the fridge or wherever to keep them focused. Others may post inspiring pictures of where they are headed long term. Let us know what helps you.
Do you believe that questioning your thinking can help change you and the world?

Good Morning Jody!
You picked the one that I liked right off the bat:
“Placing the blame or judgment on someone else leaves you powerless to change your experience; taking responsibility for your beliefs and judgments gives you the power to change them.”
I like quotes a lot. I have also done a vision board based on Oprah's suggestion. That didn't work out too much for me as it is collecting dust behind my dresser. What HAS motivated me is one of my worst fat pictures. I have it sitting on my makeup dresser and I see it every morning. No need to put it on the fridge for everyone to see, only I need to see it to remind myself where I was and where I'm never going again.

I do like quotes, but I didn't agree with all of the ones you posted. e.g. “Nothing comes ahead of its time, and nothing ever happened that didn’t need to happen.” Completely untrue, in my humble opinion. Remember, quotes are just words that someone has strung together -- always consider the source. Here are some of my favorites that I have posted before:
"Few people have the imagination for reality."
"I believe we have two lives. The life we learn with and the life we live with after that."
"You are what you love, not what loves you."
And yes, I am continually motivated to be a better person by the three quotes I cited. Not that I always succeed....
Now, as for motivation to continue to continue a healthy body journey, I would say that blogging has helped me tremendously. Also, weighing daily and trying on next-size-down clothes.
Finally, yes, I do believe that "...questioning your thinking can help change you and the world." We all need to constantly challenge overselves about our beliefs.

Marsial, the quotes are from the book but I thought the book sounded interesting.... I don't follow all I read as none of us do but some stuff helps us "think"... maybe even outside the box!

Jody,
I find quotes to be very motivational for me. Sometimes it's when I first read a quote and it somehow infuses my life. And at other times, it's remembering a quote (or at least as much as I can) at just the moment when I need some words of advice.
Thanks for sharing they Byron Katie quotes - I just may have to use one of these for a Sunday Thought!! (thank YOU!!)

Questioning our thinking is a necessity. What we know today is good for today, but for tomorrow we have much to learn yet.
All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.

I love quotes. My favorite one is up in my office by my desk. It says "What would you do if you knew you could not fail?"
