Butt/Glute Tightening Moves

Thursday October 21, 2010

I have done a ton of posts on butt/glute moves. You can do an advanced search if you want to see some of them but today I am just sharing a short & sweet video with 5 great moves for not only the glutes "butt" the legs too! I do moves that hit the glutes directly too but isn't it nice when a move works the legs & the glutes!

As I always do, I stress that you use PROPER form with all these exercises and anytime you work out. The last thing you need is to hurt yourself so if you are not used to doing moves like this, take it slowly, do the moves in front of a mirror so your can watch you form!!!!

Here is another move I have been doing recently
... I mix it up as always & many of you do step ups or step downs... but give this a try: I use a weight/dip assist machine (see pics below).  If you look at this picture, you will see it has 2 steps to get up on the machine & also side handles for the assisted dip move.

The move is this: Step up on the second or higher step. Use the handles to hold onto. Now, do a one legged squat (like you are sitting back into a seat) with the right leg & your left leg will hang straight behind you, holding on to the handles. Squat to parallel & SLOWLY come back up squeezing all the way & do a "tuck the butt & squeeze" at the top. Do as many as you can before switching legs. I mean it, even without weights if you do this slowly & CONCENTRATE on the move, you will feel this.

With time, can can hold the handle of the squatting leg only & hold a weight or weight plate in your other hand ... or do as I do, place the weight on the working leg, holding it with the free hand.

I am loving this move! If you have steps or other areas that you can use to do this move, go for it.. does not have to be in the gym!

Let me know what you think of all of the above moves. I already did most of the ones in the video but I know some may not have seen them before & gives you options to change it up!
