What About the Children? What about YOU!
image by Joe 13You look in the mirror. You are frustrated with yourself & your weight. You are mad at yourself for once again falling off the weight loss plan - or diet as many call it but I don't like that word (to me, if it is not a lifestyle plan, a way to live for life, it ain't gonna work!). You look in the mirror and ask yourself why you ate that & why you gave up on the exercise program too.
Still mad at yourself, you head out & skip a healthy breakfast which would have fed your body for the morn. At lunch, you head to fast food, continuing that "screw it" thought process & order one of those large burgers with cheese & super size the fries & soda. You stop at the vending machine for a candy bar mid afternoon & then head home to make some calorie laden dinner to feed your "screw it" attitude. Later than night you pull out the ice cream & have a huge bowl of that too.
The next day you feel like crap but the mind can't focus due to the overload you fed your body the day before so you start it up all over again.
So, this is what I have to say to you..... as you eat all this crap, if you have children, would YOU want THEM to eat what YOU just did???
Think about this, as you go to eat some of this sh*t that is harming your health, physical well being & your weight. Would you really want your child or friend or loved one to eat that too?
If your answer is an emphatic NO, than why are you eating it???? WHY!!!!????
Take a hard look, face yourself, ask why & get moving to answering that question because if you don't want your child or loved one to eat it, why are you????
I know some of my posts are getting "in your face" BUT I just want to help & if blabbing here on my site helps one person, that is a good thing to me!!!! Comment away!
Check back tomorrow on getting the word out to children & putting them first - setting them up for success! Important stuff!
My Wednesday post will discuss "head games". Hmmmmmmmmmmm, makes me think of that song by Foreigner:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a little "in your face"! Thanks for the raw truth Jody!

Keeping getting in our faces Jody, sometimes that kind of tough love is what we need! You post reminded me of a former co-worker who used to eat nothing but junk until she became pregnant and completely changed her habits because she didn't want to harm her developing child. After she gave birth she looked incredible.

Karen, thx for sharing that story.... yes, it is "interesting" what we will do to ourselves but never would do to our kid or friend or loved one....

I love it! And heck, little "in your face" never hurt Jillian Michaels, so I figure you can get away with some too, since you've got a great track record at being calm and reasonable.
It's amazing sometimes the awful way people treat their own bodies, and sometimes it's painful to watch. When I go to the grocery store, I often have to make a conscious effort not to gawk and tsk tsk at the absolute crap people put in their carts.

Oh... hmmm... I am a "bad" parent. My boys have no food "issues" like I do and are skinny and I tend not to worry that they eat crap. But I gone on record to say that if I could go back and change how I fed the from toddler stage, I would. Sure, they can eat candy and pizza and not gain weight, but I also know that it is not healthy for them. And, I am an enabler. Yes, I will be sending my son a Halloween treat package to college. Showing my love with food again. Sigh.

Hi Karen.. we all have good & not so good things we do... although as we age, weight distributes differently, even for guys plus it is about health too.. but I am sure you do your best!!!! Heck, I give the crazy kids Halloween candy. I just try to make it not that much... well I try....

There is only healthy options in this house for the whole family...the only time they eat junk is when they leave this house and someone else gives it to them....I like your approach..hard core baby..just like your body!

Jody,
This reminds me: how many people have a "do as I say, not as I do policy"? And...does that ever work anyway. Kids learn so much from what they see...
Good, good stuff...
