Ab Rollers/Exercise Bands Product Reviews & GIVEAWAY!!!

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

Remember those nice people at Americas Nutrition (yoga towel giveaway)? Well, Cheryl let me try out 2 other products & offer up a GIVEAWAY for each one as well! How exciting is that!!!!

My first review is on the PureFit Ab-Roller
.

I have used & do use a regular ab wheel. I wanted to try this ab roller to compare the difference & see how it worked. I definitely feel it working my core! I also think it is easier than a standard ab wheel so it would be good for people just trying this out or for those that feel the ab wheel is still a bit too hard for them. Either way, I do feel it & it allows me to go further out & closer to the floor when I do use it. I use both the ab-roller & the ab wheel right now.

What I am unsure about.... how long it will last. It does have a mechanism to it and you do HAVE TO USE IT per the directions or risk breaking it. It also had a weird smell to it that did not seem to go away for at least 2 weeks... or maybe I just don't smell it anymore! It also comes with a knee pad which to me, was not thick enough to do anything. I did mine on the carpet OR you can use a rolled up towel, thicker workout mat or a pillow to kneel on if you are at home.

Over all, I like it & it works my core pretty darn good. I use this & the ab wheel both!

On to the workout bands. I got the Valeo Dual Resistance Bands.

  • Set includes one elongated band for a total body workout and one circular band for arm and leg workouts
  • Durable natural rubber tubing provides a smooth, consistent stretch
  • Cushioned foam handles for a comfortable grip
  • Exercise chart is included

What can I say, resistance bands, to me, can add to a workout at home & in the gym. I use them both places. The resistance was fine for me. It may be too hard or to easy for some but overall, I think anyone can use them. Sometimes I even hold light weights to add to the resistance when I am using bands.

I had not used the circular band before & man oh man, I really love incorporating this into my leg/booty workout!!!!! Feeling it!

  • Here is where I have to put that FTC Disclaimer: I was not compensated in any way for the review written here; although I did receive the product for free, the opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

So, do you want to win one of the products above for yourself? To enter:

    1. Leave a comment telling me which product you prefer along with if you have ever used any ab roller or bands & what you did or did not like about them. Pass on an exercise if you want to!

    2. For a second entry, post it to your Facebook page OR mention on your own blog & make sure to do a separate comment for that.

    3. If you want to Tweet, feel free, but since I don't do Twitter, I don't feel right saying that you get another entry for that.

GIVEAWAY will go thru Sunday, September 26, 2010. I will announce the winner Monday, September 27, 2010. Winner will be chosen at random.

    US & Canada only.. sorry!

Again, thank you to Cheryl at
Americas Nutrition for this opportunity!!! America's Nutirtion also has a cute blog. Check it out! It is called The Fit Wits.

PS: UCLA dental work yesterday & it was a long & painful day so I did not get out to a lot of the blogs.. sorry!

Please enter me for the workout bands, thank you.

I did try the ab roller a couple of times somewhere in my late teen years. I thought it was intense. I felt very awkward with it -- I probably wasn't doing it right.

I'm sorry for the time you have to be spending at UCLA, Jody! At least each visit is one step closer to you're being healthier. Hopefully, soon it will just be a fading memory.

I'd love to try the ab wheel! I've tried it once at the gym but wasn't exactly sure how to use it- I didn't feel it as much in my core so I don't think I was doing it right. I want to give it another shot though!

I already have the ab roller (or one similar) and some resistance bands, so no entry for me. I enjoy the workout the ab roller gives even better than the stability ball roll-outs.

I would be interested in the exercise bands for my home work outs. They would also be great to take when traveling.

Sorry about the painful dental work. Hope you feel better today.

Oh my goodness I've heard so much about ab rollers and I would LOVE to try this product! I am crazy for core workouts - one of my favourite exercises is planks (and variations on the plank). Plus, it's my birthday on Friday, so it would make for a good birthday present Tehe.

I've tried resistance bands - they work pretty well, but I find myself preferring to use my body weight without the bands, or else to use dumbbells.
