Weight Loss Tips/Help; Dr. Oz & Just 10 lbs! Take the Challenge!
Allison Strine’s Etsy StoreSo, first, I found this magnet & this site from Joanna's site, Fitness and Spice. That magnet fit right in with my post for today!!!! Get off that butt & just do it!!!! TRY!!!! I am the BM today - that is what I sometimes call myself during the crazed hormone stages of life & it defined as: Bit*h Monster!!!
I am bringing you quotes to assist in weight loss. The above is the start!
1. I saw this quote somewhere:
"Whatever you eat, remember to ask yourself, "Will it help me reach my goal? If not, is it worth eating?"
Does that not say it all.. or at least quite a lot! When I treat myself, I ask myself - IS IT WORTH IT. IF I TASTE IT & IT REALLY IS NOT WORTH THE CALORIES, I DON'T EAT IT.. REALLY! If I say, buy a cookie treat that I have not tasted before & I don't absolutely love it & if it is not making that treat worth it to me, I just don't eat it!
Make your self up a small index card of this saying above & paste it on the fridge, the cupboards, the pantry or wherever you need it! Heck, set your cell phone to alert you to a meeting every day or 3 times a day but instead it says the above! How about that for a weight loss tip!
2. I heard this on a daytime show which I failed to make note of but if you are having trouble quitting the soda habit or want to cut back, think of this every time you go to swig that stuff:
SODA IS THE DEVIL'S URINE! Heck, if you think of that every time you go to have some, that might stop you in your tracks!!! Write it down & paste it where you need it!
There are 3500 calories to a pound of weight. Approximate calories for non diet soda below. Use that to figure out how many calories you are drinking & therefore how many pounds you could lose by cutting back & eventually cutting it out!
8 oz. cup of soda = 95-115 calories
12 oz. can of soda = 140-165 calories
20 oz. bottle of soda = 250-275 calories
1 liter bottle of soda = 400-500 calories
2 liter bottle of soda = 800-1000 calories
3. Anyone seen Thintervention with Jackie Warner? Well, when she caught one of the clients eating 2 oreo cookies, she strapped a calorie monitor to him & made him exercise holding the cookies until that monitor showed that he had burned off the 140 calories he ate by having just 2 cookies! If you saw what it took to burn off just those 2 calories! A LOT!!!!!!!
Lesson: When you put something in your mouth that does not jive with your health program, think about what you will have to do to burn that off! Click on the foods & calculate & it will tell you what you have to do to work that off!!!!!
4. From Roys upcoming post: "Since you are a human animal though, you take the easy way out. You prey on the dead and rotting carcasses of processed foods, hunting more for taste than for efficiency in energy."
OK, another great quote to keep in mind when you go for that stuff. Thinking of it in those terms would stop me!!!!! Again, what is the rule I keep saying - WRITE IT DOWN & post it everywhere you need it & make alerts to your cell phone!
5. From ME, Jody: Every once in a blue moon I catch myself saying to myself, well I am 52 so I don't have to be able to do that & then I hear myself, slap myself silly & go for it to prove them wrong!
6. Heard on Dr. Oz: YOU HAVE TO LOVE YOURSELF MORE THAN YOU LOVE FOOD!
Now this is one I have heard before but one worth repeating! Maybe a mantra for some of you! Again, WRITE IT DOWN & paste it everywhere you need it including the bathroom mirror! So the cell phone thing again. Do what it takes!

I totally get you on the "I'm 52" thing. Only 49, but there are those moments when I think I don't have to, or I don't need to... then I consider the alternative, which is turning my back on my values. Not gonna happen.

From #4 above, you said "Thinking of it in those terms would stop me!" What a great assist to self-control. Think of what would stop you -- probably different for each person. Whatever it is for you, make it your mantra. I'm not sure what mine would be because I am not yet at the point where I want to sabotage myself so I'm not sure what I will need to save myself when those moments come. But, having been extremely unwell due to allergies the past two weeks, my resolve is quite comprised and I've caught myself occasionally gazing wistfully into my refrigerator a little too long. I've stopped myself from doing any harm by hearing this anguished cry in my head, "I can't, I can't start over again!" That's kept me on track for now -- but I expect the mantra will change to something more positive when I feel better. Love the magnet.

Once again, we are on the same wavelength this week Jody. Number one goes right along with my video this week! I love the first three, and while I don't have time to visit the links on ten pounds right now, I will. You see, lately it has occurred to me how much of a difference ten pounds would make in my life. Watch out 185 - here I come!

My problem is I see great quotes like these, or read great ideas in blogs, and when the food is tempting me, what I have read is long forgotten. I think I need to write down some notes and post them around the house as reminders in the moment. I have not seen that show but another blogger mentioned it so I am going to watch. It is one I Tivo just in case I ever want to catch it and fast forward through to see what is interesting.

I hope I can forget that soda saying by dinner time!! Yuck!!
Not to detract from sayings because I like them also, but one minute of doing it is worth 1000 sayings. I would also like to suggest to frustrated people like Karen, that concrete actions like not having trigger foods or foods that are bingers in the house are the answer that trumps any saying.
