9/11 & Hugs; Happy Birthday Lisa

“I will not play tug o' war. I'd rather play hug o' war. Where everyone hugs instead of tugs, Where everyone giggles and rolls on the rug, Where everyone kisses, and everyone grins, and everyone cuddles, and everyone wins.” ~ Shel Silverstein
With this being another "anniversary" for 9/11, I have moved Saturday Funny to Sunday Funny so check back tomorrow. Lance, from The Jungle of Life, had this as his post on September 5th. I felt compelled to share this today, not only because it is 9/11, but also because of the climate in this country these days & all the horrible & bitter & prejudicial things being said out there. Lance's post really spoke to me. We all need to take a deep breath & stop all this crap!
Today we will all stop to remember those lives lost on September 11, 2001. It was a horrible tragedy. Our lives & the way we think about life were forever changed. Please take a moment to honor those taken to soon.
But saying the above, life still moves forward & although we never want to forget, we also don't want to let the people that did this change our will to live life & keep smiling and enjoying.
My middle stepdaughter, Lisa (has 4 of the 7 crazy grandkids), was born on 9/11. The tragedy struck on her 25th birthday, a day she had planned to go to Disneyland. And each year, we all stop to recall this terrible time here in America but she still has the right to celebrate her birthday & smile and have fun while honoring the lost lives too. Life moves on and we will not let anyone take happiness away from us! We can remember those lost but we can also show that we will not let anyone deter our right for freedom our right to live, love, laugh & hug!!!

Happy birthday Lisa!!!! That is her with her oldest daughter & our oldest grandchild above. That kid is already taller than me!!! Enjoy and have fun Lisa!

Nice, reverent post, Jody. My mom's birthday is the 12th. Her family is from New York, and this touched them deeply -- often overshadowing her birthday. It doesn't help, either, that her father died 9-11-02.
But, there is a lot in life to celebrate and even celebrate life.
Happy Birthday to Lisa.
(btw, Jody, the answer is #6 re the push-ups, but everything else is true)

Having a birthday on a day burned into our flashbulb memory cells must be tough. SO we need to take a moment today to say Happy birthday Lisa!
Never Forget!

It is hard to strike that balance between remembrance and going on with life. I think all of us have that twinge of guilt when we do other things on this day, but we should not. And we all remember in our own ways.
