Butt (Glutes) Lifter/Leg Toning Move

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

First off, Happy New Year to my Jewish readers out there! I don't follow all the rules but I know when the holidays are & I make note of them. I do tend to make my own life rules in terms of beliefs & such although I celebrate being Jewish & "celebrate" the holidays in my own way.

On to "starting the new year" with a butt/leg move that many of you may have heard of but have not done OR if you are "lucky enough", have done!

I know many of you out there love lunges and others of you have a love/hate relationship with them as they work but they hurt! So here is another one to add to the list if it is not already there:

Double Pulse Walking Lunge (my own name): You do this move like your standard walking lung EXCEPT you move down in to the lunge position, then come up only 1/2 of the way before, down to parallel again & then all the way back up before walking forward to the next lunge. You keep doing this for as many reps as possible (or pick a rep range). Rest & do your next set. You will most likely have to drop your weights when doing this move OR keep the same weight & do less repetitions.

I also do this move with alternating front or reverse lunges. You can do this with all forms of squats & presses as well.

You can also do stationary pulse lunges & squats by staying in the same position and pulsing up & down for as many pulses as you can handle OR pick a certain repetition range before changing legs if you are doing lunges.

There are many ways to work in this pulse move... be creative. I could write quite a few more moves but I am sure you get the drift & can add in some of your own. Instead of me writing away, leave your move in the comment section.

Give it a try & let me know how your buns & legs feel!!!!

For an additional high intensity workout for cardio, legs & butt, check out this video from ACE, American Council on Exercise. It is a high intensity stair workout! This stuff works you big time!!!! It is more advanced so be sure & have some experience under your bely & if you have medical or joint issues, talk to your doctor first!!!

Have any of you done this move? Like it or love/hate relationship? How about the stair type workout?
