Homemade Frozen Popsicle Treats!
Per The Today Show, the ZOKU "makes customized frozen ice pops right on your counter in as few as seven minutes. Concoct nutritious frozen treats using 100 percent fruit juices, non-fat or low-fat yogurt, and pureed fruits (blended watermelon is great, when it’s in season). You can even make colorful, layered popsicles using several types of juice. Fruit pops make a terrific, low-cal snack for kids, and with the Zoku, they’ll have just as much fun making them as eating them."I first posted about this on December 23, 2009. I saw it again on the Today Show recently and since there are heat waves across the country, I thought I would share again!
Per the most recent Today Show: "I came across ZOKU's Quick Pop Maker when I was looking for a fast way to make my own frozen treats. Once chilled in your freezer, you can remove the unit, add your choice of juice, and after 7-9 minutes on your counter top, you will have delicious frozen pops ready to enjoy. You can even get creative making layered designs, creamsicles or adding fruit slices for a refreshing way to cool off during the hot weather. ($49.95; zokuhome.com)"
Well, not too long ago, Joanna over at Fitness & Spice had a post on popsicles recipes. Check out her popsicle recipes here. I also found these articles: How to Make Healthy Popsicles & Healthy Popsicles. Here is another article with recipes that are not all low cal/low fat BUT easily adaptable & sound yummy too: A Month of Popsicle Recipes.
I know there were other popsicle posts out there & can't remember where I saw them all so if you have a post on popsicles, add your link in your comment OR even let us know a recipe. I can post it at a later date too!
Now, you don't have to have the fancy machine above as you saw in Joanna's post. You can also use "commercially available popsicle containers, ice cube trays (after filling with the treat, cover in plastic wrap or waxed paper and stick a toothpick into each cube) or 3 or 5 ounce cups (paper, plastic or metal - cover each cup with plastic wrap or waxed paper and put a long toothpick or popsicle stick into each)". I am sure some of you have other ideas you want to share too! Share away!
OK, what is your favorite popsicle treat & do you have a recipe to share????
Don't forget about Part 1 of my guest post over at Sensei Talks today! My long term readers may know a lot of it but stop by & show them some love!

I love popsicles, but I have to admit, those I eat aren't that healthy as they are made with artificial sweeteners. I need to look into making my own.
