Living Life to the Fullest

“If you ask me what I came into this world to do, I will tell you: I came to live out loud.” ~Emile Zola

Another quote from Inperspire. They find the coolest quotes. Heck a lot of you do! I love collecting them. I have been collecting them since 2003!!!

OK, so I read this quote and I thought, I wish I had done this or that way back when.... I wish, I wish, I wish................................

How many of us say that. I wish I had done something. I wish I had gone after that job. I wish I had introduced myself to that person. I wish I had tackled this weight loss journey years ago instead of wasting time not doing all these years.

I will be honest. I said it.. I still say it & that is still my struggle.... stop wishing & start doing on certain aspects of my life ... of course this always comes back to the fear & for me, past experiences.

We all have to learn to get past the past AND past the fear AND past the wishing. I know some of you have already done that but many of us have not. Even reading this, it seems like this giant hill I can't climb or one that I keep slipping back down.. and trying again.

All I can say is I am trying..... that is the best I can say for now.

I also found these two quotes which really spoke to me:

Courage isn't about doing something you are not scared of. Courage is doing something in spite of the fact that you are scared of it.

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
Howard Thurman

What are you doing to stop the wishing & start the living out loud? Are you using your courage?

If not, check out this amazing post from Lance, his Sunday Thought for the Day. Really moving!!!!

Fear holds a knife to the throat every man and woman in America. It's a threat we all live with -- daily for most. The best we can hope to do to combat fear is to_____________________?

It's up to us to fill in that blank!

It really goes with your previous post about how do we use our time...if a person is not using their time wisely, they most likely are not living life to the fullest! Still working on all of it myself...but don't want to end up saying " I wish" about too many things when I'm 90!

    Jody,
I love that Howard Thurman quote! Do that which makes us come alive. Why do we hold ourselves back sometimes (why do I?)? Fears. Perhaps when we live what' in our heart - that fear feels more personal.

I'm currently working with a life coach - in the process of really digging into a lot of this right now. What I'm finding is that - taking baby steps into these fears - it's not nearly as bad as my mind makes it out to be. In fact, it has all been really so, so good so far! And maybe that's part of all of this - feeling that fear - and then taking steps into it. And in that - becoming more awake to the "true" being that we are.

Jody, this is such a good post for me to read today! Thank YOU!!!!

I have certainly fallen victim to the wishing, especially as relates to the darn weight and diet. But I am getting so much better at not looking back. Now that second part - not so much. Not for lack of courage, but for lack of knowing what it is I should or want to be doing in this life.

    "I wish I had"

Four of the saddest words in our language when put together. I needed to read this. Seriously dealing with this in a non-health, non-weight loss area of my life right now.

You are so right. How many times do we tell ourselves these things? I know I have many, many times.

I try now not to live in the past or with regret, but it takes effort.

I'm so glad I'm still not repeating that mantra about "I wish I would HAVE done something about my weight" and instead I am doing something.

I'm curious, what is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the words, "I wish I....".

Last week I took a risk and it paid off. I'm not ready to share the details yet, but I'll be sharing it in a future post. Let me just say though, I didn't over think, I just took a leap. If there is something you've been wanting to do, I would encourage you to do the same.

I loved Martha Beck's challenge in "The Joy Diet": Do one thing every day that scares you.

Some days in Memphis that's driving my car (*g*), some days it's speaking to a stranger, other days something else. But I like the concept and am trying to build a habit of following it.
