Out of the Comfort Zone!

Monday, July 12, 2010

Saturday I posted about doing something out of my comfort zone this past Friday night - NOTHING TO DO WITH FITNESS! I tend to be pretty boring in terms of doing what some of you may call exciting things or adventures like Mary from A Merry Life. She was near me at Disneyland over the weekend & hoped to meet her but her schedule was too packed. She was headed to Las Vegas from there.

Anyway, I have been seeing a couple at the gym for a year or more now. I always wondered what they did for a living. The guy seemed to be more a gamer looking type & the lady more "every day". Not to say the guy looked weird by any means. He just looked like he would not fit into your every day corporate job!

Last Monday, the lady came up to me & introduced herself. At my workout hours, we all do our own thing but wave to one another! The ones I have known for 10, 15 & more years, yes, we chat when DONE!

Anyway, she told me that the guy she was with was Avery Watts, (he is an up and coming heavy metal/hip hop rocker) & he was having a concert in Los Angeles this past Friday night. The concert would benefit cancer research through a group called Amped 4-a-Cure. She wanted to invite me & offered me comp tickets to the show & a private party afterwards at House of Blues. Well, the music was really not our (hubby & me) type and it started when sometimes I would be asleep (I know!) BUT I thought, why not! She was nice enough to ask me & it was something kind of fun & different. I asked my hubby & we decided to take our old age butts to this concert! We thought we would be the oldest there!

Jody outside of her comfort zone!!! Really!! I was kind of nervous about going since it is not the type of people I typically know or hang with but I thought if Michelle asked me, she must have thought it was not a big thing for me to go! She knew how old I was!!!! Well, it was pretty cool. There were all ages from very young kids to older grandmas, not my age grandmas. It looked to be a mix of hard core fans of the group, younger people that were actually very clean cut looking, and a lot of family/friends of all ages. Again, although the music was a bit hard metal/hip hop for us (we are classic rock people), it was entertaining & the people were nice AND for cancer so..... Now, for my ears to recoup!

This may not seem like a big deal to many of you but we just don't do this type of stuff so for me, it was a push out of my comfort zone & it was fun!

So, what are you going to do today or this week to get out of your comfort zone?Since this is mostly a health/fitness/mental well being blog, tell me your plans!!! It does not have to be health/fitness related... whatever you want to share!

Me, I did the above but going for more in the gym! Remember when I did kickboxing??!!
