How Do You Use Your Time?

Tuesday July 6, 2010

Pic found on MizFit's website here.

FIRST: A big thanks to all your wonderful comments to my post yesterday! You all had lots to say! I also had an awesome time with my hubby, my youngest stepdaughter/hubby, my middle stepdaughter/hubby and the 4 grandkids that are back in CA plus my hubby's ex-wife (the stepdaughter's mom). She drove with them here & had a tearful goodbye as she went back to Idaho. At least she still has 1 daughter/hubby & 3 other grandkids there!

Onward to today's post!

I heard this line on a show I watched a couple weeks ago:

"SHE USED HER TIME EXACTLY THE WAY SHE WANTED."

That really hit home with me. Do we all use our time in the best way possible for us most of the time. I think many of us have read or heard the studies on how we use only 10% of our brain power... Dr. J, feel free to chime in here as you know more about this than I do!

So, have we & are we using our time in a way that we want to or are we letting things hold us back? I think you all can guess that I admit to holding myself back..... always a learning experience!

I have written at least 3 times about "The Dash". My first time was at least 2 years ago on my long lost blog. Most recently, I linked to it in this post.

So, are you using your time the way you want to?Are you working to do that? Are you doing what you are passionate about?  Will your "dash" express that? Is your weight loss journey factoring into the quote and your Dash?

Me, I definitely factor in my health & fitness goals always. I am working on the real life part as I always say! You out there in blog land are helping me do that! THX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With every new advancement in technology, comes one more thing need be done each day. As the universe spreads and expands faster, those who inhabit it become busier. Old values and priorities fall to the wayside, in favor of new, seemingly more pressing values and priorities.

Time, the physicist tells us, is woven into everything -- even a chair or a rock. I disagree. We own time, as we own our manicured green lawns. The difference between the lawn and time, for most, is that managing the lawn is a bigger priority.

We own time... we can choose to nurture and keep it under control, or we can let it grow wild and take us over. What will we do? Only time will tell...

Another fabulous topic! I have actually been thinking about this quite a bit lately..how many hours during the day that I spend on nothng particularly useful or helpful...I've been trying to rectify that-and now I'm going to work harder at rectifying that! Thanks for the little push!

Wow! No, I am not. I have spent many years focused on my boys and I am happy I did and know that is a big part of the dash. But I do think I need to find some passion and meaning in my life and I have often wondered if my overeating is tied to that.

Karen... I think we all second guess ourselves but as long as we learn from it, I think that is good.... I hope!

In August of last year I decided that I wasn't using my time the way I wanted. I was accomplishing plenty, but not the things that would make me happy. Without going into all the details, I made a choice to start taking steps to do something I've always wanted to do. I've made tremendous progress in the past 11 months. I'll share the details in a post sometime, but yes, I'm doing what I want. I'd highly recommend it!

Well, right now most of my attention is on my kids and I really would not want to spend my time doing anything else but being their mother so the answer is YES!

The "Dash" was quite touching, thank you!!

Time certainly does have a relativity. As a child, a rainy Sunday can seemingly last forever. Other moments are all too quickly gone...

As for the brain, we use all of it all the time. Better to think of it as how much of it we use for positive things.

Very nice Jody, thanks for sharing the link to the Dash again, this is the first time I saw it.

I do not have much to add. The movie says it all. It's a wonderful thing to keep in mind and I think we can all do better in some form.
