Reinventing Ourselves...

Pic from here

Albert Einstein once said “In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity”. I need to listen to that! So can we reinvent ourselves?

Has anyone out there watched Hot in Cleveland with Betty White, Valerie Bertinelli & the rest of the crew on TVLand? Such a cute show! I think it is more a chick show but some guys may enjoy it. Takes me back to the older time fun sitcoms! Betty White is fantastic too!!!! I heard Valerie say they got Betty before her demand went crazy so they are so lucky to have her as part of the show & she does do a lot for it.. like Betty does! Her wit is amazing.. her timing too!

OK, I digress since I liked it so much.... So for those that saw it & saw the first episode .. or did not... At the end, Valerie talks about #72 on her list of things to do in her life (I think that was the number).... like a bucket list...... here it is:

REINVENT YOURSELF!

Now that is a concept! Think about it. When we start on this weight loss and health journey, we are on a life long journey to change, be better, get healthy, lose weight, find ourselves or whatever it is for us. BUT, yes, it is also reinventing ourselves.... making a new person, exploring new ways to eat, move, live life in a better & healthier way. We hope to reinvent how we feel about ourselves too.

But, as I mentioned in a previous post, just because we lose weight, does not mean the person inside changes. We may still be the same person inside that needs help so we also have to work on reinventing that self to feel comfortable with the new you, the new lifestyle & yes, what is in the mirror. Reinventing comes in many forms.

I have made it clear that I still struggle with that reinventing myself. Sometimes I still see that fat girl in the mirror. Many times it still holds me back... from reinventing myself & trying new things.

Have you reinvented yourself? Was it just physical or both physical & mental? Is the mental still a battle for you even years after....

I have definitely reinvented my physical self & to some extent my mental self but still lots of work to be done!

What about real life.. were you able to take all those good feelings & maybe reinvent yourself in what I call real life.. job, career, family or whatever?

What is your definition of reinventing yourself?

Do you have a bucket list???

Still in the process of inventing myself. Will seek to reinvent myself, only when that puzzle has been completed.

Funny, I go through moderate fitness phases, intense fitness phases, and phases when I wonder what fitness is -- and why it is, or if it should even be.

    When it comes to further inventing myself, ot reinventing myself, I always default to the advice my brother has given me time, and again;

"If you leap, the net will appear."

It always has...., so I regularly leap.

Roy, I love that saying from your bro! I wish I followed it more.. the net did not always appear.. or maybe it did & I did not see it... who knows...

As for reinventing.. whatever one calls it, I think I continue to do it day by day.. always a work in progress!

I don't have a bucket list FJ. I think the crap from early on.... if I stay away from wishing, I will not get disappointed.. I know, not the way to look at things but that is what my youth did to me! Still trying to fix it! I am a work in progress always!

I'm still reinventing myself. I've done everything from losing my weight, fitness enthusiast, changed my hair to red and nice and short.....I'm still working on that mental part though.

This weekend I'm doing my first physical activity outside of my own workouts!

We have a Freedom Tour here in Ohio and I'll be riding my first 100K with my husband. I am looking forward to that new experience!

This helps me with that old inner voice when it comes out.....the negative one we all have. :/

What an interesting question! I personally don't believe I can re-invent me. I bring with me all my set of circumstances and experiences that I can not change. HOWEVER...I can IMPROVE myself. I can stop holding myself back and just put one foot in front of the other in ALL the areas of my life. But that is me...it doesn't work for everyone.

Wow! So many questions! The biggest re-inventing would have to be our blog. It turned from a small egg into a lovely bird soaring...for that I am grateful BUT now I would love to try something new..not sure what it will be!

Way too many things on my bucket list to rattle off...what about you?

I am with Jules....I don't believe I can re-invent myself but I can improve myself. Our life experiences make who we are and the only true way to re-invent would be to go back in time and change our experiences. Improving is a different matter. That we can do daily, by changing how our experiences are working out and by bringing or not bringing new experiences into our lives.

I have some ideas and goals I am going to aim for in the next year which will be improving myself but, also in a way will be re-inventing myself as these goals will be a total change in my life as it is now.
