Weight Loss/Fitness/Workout Help! Happy Bday Linda!

First, family bdays! HAPPY BIRTHDAY Linda (my hubby's sister)!!! It was great seeing you & Keith at the wedding! Have a super day & spoil yourself!
So last week I mentioned that I had a few links I wanted to share with you on fitness/workout help. It is a GOOD THING to change it up not only to keep the body guessing but to also keep you from getting bored & quitting..... NO QUITTING ALLOWED! Find a new thing to do if you get there. Plenty of ways to keep moving the body!
So, today I am sharing a couple links from The Today Show that I thought were pretty cool. The videos are not that long so take a look OR if you are on the run, come back later to view them.
The first one has a few multi joint moves that I think you are going to like - well, like is relative depending on how much they work ya or you work them!
1. Bicep Curl to shoulder press to hamstring deadlift. You are working the biceps, shoulders, hamstrings (upper back of leg), butt. Keeping your form correct always works the core too!
2. Tricep extension with a reverse crunch and chest flyes. This one will take some thought but heck, work the mind too! You are working your triceps (back of the arms that so many women want to work), abdominals and chest.
3. Ribcage pullover to crunch to a squat. You work the trapezius, lats (upper back), abs, glutes (butt)/legs. I tried this one & really liked it!
4. Front lunge with a twist to a shoulder press. Again, some thought process going on but give it a try! Works the core/abs, thighs, butt and delts.
Video #2 is a montage of different workouts available out there. Check out the video to see them & this will show you how many different ways you can find to just move & this video only has 4 on it. You can exercise if you really want to.. just find what works for you!
The workouts on this video (link above) show: a home workout, Recess workout as in the recess we had when we were in school, circuit training workout and a body bar workout.
Hmmmmmmmmmm, I wonder which one appeals to MizFit.. could it be the recess one!
Hope you enjoyed the videos & let me know what you think if you try any of the moves or “fitness trends” out there. Heck, pass on any of your suggestions right here, right now! Change is good!
PS: Doing dental stuff today if I don't get to your blog...

Thanks for sharing that video Jody! I agree I need to change things up, but I don't think I can do all those exercises in conjunction to one another.

These are exactly the types of exercises that my trainer incorporates into our sessions. I like to do these when I train alone too because they are more efficient. Efficient is always good!

You poor girl! Constant dental stuff! I would be a bit depressed as I detest going to the dentist. Unfortunately it's one of those things you gotta do... I hope things are going well and thanks for the videos.

Compound exercises are the way to go. That's one of the reasons I like martial arts training. No muscle is left uninjured

Interesting twist with the bicep/shoulder/ deadlift movement. Though the only problem I can see is that the load might be a little inconsistent with the exercise, so the intensity will drop.
My barbell bicep curl: 80lbs
My barbell Shoulder Press: 140lbs
My deadlift: 300lbs...
So you're limited by your weakest link. Still, I can see this being fun.
Hey Jody, remember that hybrid Deadlift article I wrote for you? Are you still doing em that way?

FJ, this is my biggest issue with these types of moves even though I think they are great & mix it up with them at times. I like to use certain amounts of weight for different body parts & doing these types of moves does not allow me to work the different areas to the best weight I can/want to handle. Like you, I can do heavier in some & less in others....
I mix up my deadlift moves to keep it changing & feeling different.

Those are neat combos! I'm not sure if Icould do them with all the thinking involved though! Haha!

On the video I seem to recall a header saying this was a bikini body something or other workout; but I tried #1 & #2 above myself. I tried #3 too but they were too awkward for me. But the first two I was able to work into my dumbbell routine and did those fairly well. Something kicked my butt in todays workout; maybe it was those. I need to watch that other link as I am looking for different stuff to keep workouts from going boring on me. Thanks for sharing as always!

Patrick.. the header did say that but I never pay attention to the header.. for me, it is what is in the article or video that counts!
