Staying Fit at Many Ages!

I have a real treat for you so keep on reading! But first, I am also part of a guest post at Fitness: A Journey Not a Destination! Karen interviewed me & a few other blogger friends about why they continue to eat well & exercise right now. She asked a person in their 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's, that would be me!
First, here is a bit of my past:
Young Jody thru 6th grade: I was active, we played outside all the time way back then! No tons of TV time & no computers or video games. Even with being active, I was overweight due to eating too much & the wrong things.
Jody, 7th grade thru 10th grade: Active in sports, cheerleading, drill team. Still overweight due to eating too much & the wrong things.
Jody, 11th grade - 12th grade: I lost my weight the summer before 11th grade. I was on drill team & kept the weight off NOT eating right. I actually sat around all summer & still lost the weight by cutting my calories WAY back.
Jody - college years: I tried to exercise a bit in college & I was riding my bike & walking a lot back & forth to classes & campus. I held a full load of classes and worked part time as well. I did put some weight back on as seen in this CRAZY pic above. What was I thinking! Were there even styles like that! I don't even remember that outfit & I know why!!!!!! Check out those big ole arms & I even had boobies due to more bodyfat!
Jody in my 20's to lower 30's: Was exercising doing aerobic classes & weight lifting. I also started running at this time in my late 20's & did some 5k's. Still not eating quite right but better than before.
Jody in my mid 30's to now: Found REAL weight training & was doing cardio machines. I liked doing my own thing. I learned to eat more & better. I did body building in my late 30's. After that, I went to circuit weight training, cardio machines & MIXING IT UP!
Jody in my late 40's to now: Learned more here than I think anytime in terms of my body & how to adjust to changes in it due to "the change of life". I was already listening to my bod, changing it up & eating well but this was a very revealing & challenging time! It still is!
OK, now if you did not head over to Karen, at Fitness: A Journey Not a Destination head there right now OR at 8am EST depending on what time you are reading this!!!!! Again, she interviewed me & a few other blogger friends about why they continue to eat well & exercise right now.
Pass on your thoughts to Karen and me on all of this & why you eat well & exercise right now & before too! Can't wait to read your thoughts at Karens place & here!
PS: I had a UCLA dental day yesterday so I apologize if I did not get to your blog. I had all good intentions in the morn but then I had to hit the road when I heard about traffic woes. Then, when I got home, still had to do my post for today AND had a pretty major toothache from the work done there. I will be there again Thursday so please hang in there if I don’t get to comment. I will try my best!

Since I too am a part of Karen's post I will reserve comment here, only to say that -- based on early Jody picture, you look your all-time best right now!!!!

Thanks again for joining in Jody.
Don't you wish you knew then what you know now? When I discovered strength training in my late 20's and saw dramatic changes within 3 months I felt like I'd discovered plutonium!

Great to read about your fitness voyage, Jody!
Being the starting point, journey, or destination, it's all about the process and heading. Let's hope we all maintain our true north!
By the way, it's interesting that I just posted about my Dad and his successful fitness journey

Jody, Thanks for this post, excellent read. I did stop over to Fitness: A Journey Not a Destination! and read what Karen had put together, very nice work. The pics from your college years, bet those have memories and stories in them. I know my old albums wish they could talk. Adjusting to changes, that is ringing in my head at the moment. I guess I am forcing change on my body now in my mission to get healthy again; hope my body keeps up with my minds determination. Your point though I believe is to listen to your body and adjust your regimens accordingly to help your body become what you desire of it.
Have a great day.

I love the guest post! You are so inspiring! I was the same way in high-school, I did loads of cardio, little lifting, and ate too few calories. Not a good idea!
