What, Not Enough Time to Exercise!!??
Yes, taking the chance to show another pic from my reunion. This is Sheila, the cat. She lives at Terri's house.. or maybe Terri would say that they live at Sheila's house! eyes!!!!
SHE IS LOOKING AT YOU! Did you say that you don't have enough time to exercise & eat right?
Are you watching TV but not utilizing that time to do something in the commercial breaks OR even throughout the show! I see a guy each Monday at the gym that goes in the empty aerobics room, puts on music & dances around for a long time! He moves, moves, moves to the music with different "moves". Can't you do something during TV time if that is all you have? With the lighter eves, get out & walk & take the family if necessary. Nice time & family time too! OR, make a few extra minutes in the morn & maybe walk at the lunch hour and/or after work if that is the case. Remember, you can break out the time onto smaller increments & still get the benefit! PLAN the food. Cook in advance. Cut up veggies in advance or buy them pre-cut. Make up a veggie salad & marinate it in a healthy dressing that will last for a few days.

When I was working LONG hours, I made sure to get my workout in first thing. I got up earlier to do it. I know some of you may be single moms BUT find some time to make an investment in yourself. There are many ways to do this. People do it! Don't take the lead of Sheila (with Terri's daughter) in the pic above & give up!
Here I give you a post from Roy, over at Roy Cohen's Contemplative Fitness. He lays it out there! Now, I tend to disagree with the TV part as long as it does not get in the way of other things. I do watch my fav TV shows & they are a great escape for me BUT they do not take precedent over my workouts. I record some of them & watch later or even while I am doing stretching or abs/core.
Please read & take it in!
Not enough time…
Assuming the sun rises on a given day, we will be blessed with 1440 minutes to live, give, and to complete the tasks of our day. If but 30 of those minutes were given to exercise, you would still have 1410 minutes remaining to live, give, and to complete those tasks.
Still, many say feel they don’t have time to exercise.
The average person sleeps for 460 minutes per day – a grand bank of time to be sure. Withdraw just 30 minutes from that account for your exercise, and you are still left with 430 minutes to spend on your sleep – nearly twice the sleep that the human body needs. Now add-in the increased energy and productivity that comes with daily exercise, and a more efficient day will be at hand.
What looks like a vault is actually a bedroom door. You have the combo, open it up, make a withdrawal...
Still, many say feel they don’t have time to exercise.
The average American will spend 360 minutes every day watching television, socializing, or engaged in leisure activities such as computer solitaire, XBox, knitting, or whatever. These may bring about relaxation and escape, but will do little to promote increased energy, self confidence, and improved health. Subtract 30 minutes for exercise from this time and you will still have 150 minutes remaining for your TV viewing, though I doubt you will find anything worthwhile to watch. (Here is where I, Jody, disagree but we are all different)
Still, many say feel they don’t have time to exercise.
The average American spends 330 minutes doing little things each day such as eating, drinking, shopping, and general dilly-dallying. I’ll bet with a little planning these could be done in less than 300 minutes, and you could eliminate dilly-dallying altogether. More exercise time has just been made.
From simple math, we can see at least 90 minutes of time from which 30 minutes of daily exercise can be had.
Still, many say feel they don’t have time to exercise.
There is time to exercise – lots of time. It can’t be found though, it can only be made; taken from the bank of time you use for other aspects of your life. I say so often, what you are looking for is not to be found, but to be created. Your exercise time will not take you by the hand and lead you to the workout. You must take your own hand and lead yourself to the time that you choose to use — to make your life better with daily exercise.
And ah, if the sun doesn’t rise? Don’t sweat the caramel frapacinno – it will be the least of your worries. Be well. reg

I totally agree! How can we stress this enough to folks?! I use to be one of those people before I gained confidence in myself and that happened by losing weight.
It's possible, its doable just have to want to change!

Sometimes finding the time to get to the gym is tough as it is 40 mins away from home but, to work out at home, there is always a way to make time. I did my leg work (lunges, squats, ect) and ab work at home and watched TV from the floor while doing them!
I no longer make the excuse that I have no time. Seeing and feeling how much better I am is all the incentive I need. Plus not wanting to be the next member of my family to die at 60!

I always say that we make time for what is important to us. As an obese person exercise wasn't. But as I lost weight and saw all the great benefits of exercise I made time because the exercise was important to me.

I completely agree with Roy's assessment. We have no problem spending 30 minutes watching a sit-com, why not use that time to workout. No one ever defeated Type II diabetes, lost 50 lbs or decreased their cholesterol from watching a sit-com, right?
If you are creative, you can come up with options. When my son played soccer in elementary school a group of mom's would walk the perimeter of the field while the kids practiced. They got an hour of exercise and some much needed adult conversation. That's what I'm talking about!

Cute cat and wow it is long! Interesting on the minute thing..you never really think of it that way. Also great advice is that workouts can be broken up and no, you do not need to go the gym to do them!

Sian, that is right. Break up the workouts if you have to!
