About The Wendy Walk
These walks to be held in three major cities on the same day - New York, Los Angeles and Miami - were created and organized by Ali, Matt and Jackie Landes, to support their mom, who has a rare form of cancer, called Liposarcoma. She is currently undergoing treatment as part of a clinical trial. To date, the disease can be treated, but not cured. Because of the rarity of this cancer, the cure depends solely on new research. Sarcoma researchers must rely primarily on private funding, because government funds are used for the more well- known cancers.
In addition, The Liddy Shriver Initiative has this Everyday Heroes competition going on:
Everyone who has dealt with sarcoma knows a hero or two. Heroes support, encourage and inspire us in extraordinary ways. Just when we need them most, they are there. They challenge us, comfort us, and give us hope.
The Team Sarcoma Everyday Heroes competition invites you to tell us about your hero. Entries will be published at the Team Sarcoma website, and three winning submissions will be chosen. A donation will be made to sarcoma research in honor of each winner's hero, and each winner will choose which type of research their prize will fund.
Please spread the word about this competition within the sarcoma community. The deadline for submissions is June 1, and everyone who has been touched by sarcoma is invited to participate.

For those that are new to my site, my mom died from Liposarcoma in November 2006.
Also, some of you may have read that April 7th was American Heart Association’s (AHA) National Start! Walking Day. Per their website, "these days, adults like you are spending more time at work than ever before. An unfortunate side effect is that, as a nation, we're becoming more inactive. This is a problem when you consider the fact that physical inactivity doubles the risk of heart disease!Heart disease is this country's No.1 killer. But by exercising for as little as 30 minutes each day you can reduce your risk. That's what the Start! Movement is all about: Walk more. Eat better. Live a longer, healthier life. Countless people across the country are jumping on board. Join them in the Start! Movement, get walking and start taking a more active role in your health! Hi Jody,
What a great message to spread. Even just walking can do so much toward moving us in a direction of better health. We were out last night to hike at a local state park - and what a fun time! Today...I am off to do some running!
And - I am sorry to hear about your mother. I can only imagine how difficult this was, and what a great way to spread awareness of this disease.
