TGIF, Friday, January 15, 2010

Well, I am feeling better today. I don't get my hair cut & colored that often cause it does cost a bit of $$ for us women! So, yesterday after many many many weeks too many, I got the gray covered & the hair trimmed up. It feels so good! Come on ladies, you know how good you feel after getting your hair done & I never can dry it the way they do! Men, I know you are rolling your eyes! If you were like my hubby, you would just shake your head YES & agree with everything I say... especially during these hormone stages!

So, I have been meaning to write this post for a while now & just never got to it. OH NO! We all have the need for new running/walking/trail/cross training shoes and more. Exercise clothes always help along with socks & many other accessories.

I have been buying my shoes from RoadRunner Sports for a while now. The reason: I joined their VIP club which has the "Perfect Fit Guarantee, you can run in your shoes RISK-FREE for 60 days. If they're not a perfect fit, simply exchange them for a different pair. No questions asked." Many of you may not need this but it has served me well. I have very hard feet to fit. Not only are they flat & wide BUT I have bunions on both feet. Also, the older I get, the worse my feet get if that is even possible! I have found that even if I buy the exact same pair of shoes, they may not fit the same due to either my feet OR the manufacturing process of the shoes. I am also a person that can actually wear a shoe for 3 weeks to a 1 month before I really realize it is not right for me. I think this is more due to all my feet probs!

Now, you may not be like me but the VIP club also offers up this: Get FREE SHIPPING & 10% OFF!* Plus, BEST PRICE GUARANTEED!

Reap the rewards of your VIP benefits:
  • FREE SHIPPING on Every Order - No minimum required
  • Save 10% - *ALL regular priced items
  • Best Price Guarantee - Find a shoe for less, we'll match it
  • Member Exclusives - Get first dibs shopping privileges on all of our sale and clearance events, our best promotional offers & more!
I also have a few stores in the vicinity of my home so I can go in & they also provide the service of analyzing your feet while you run on a treadmill which is great for me! BUT, who says you can't try on shoes in the store near you & then buy them online IF you find it is a better price or deal.

In addition to shoes of all kinds, they also sell, socks, water bottles, clothes, heart rate monitors & much more. Check out their site here: RoadRunner Sports.

Just so you know, I have not been contacted by RoadRunner Sports nor am I being paid to do this. It is just a place I buy shoes & this VIP Club I joined has really helped me out, shoe wise. Their sales are great too for the VIP club members!

As you look through the site, do check out the reviews by people on the VIP club. Some did not find it worth their money because they do not buy enough items in a year. Others wanted to cancel & had trouble but on the whole, most had good reviews.

Hope this helps some of you!

Where do you buy your shoes/workout clothes? Any suggestions for the rest of us, especially those of us that are money challenged?

I've never heard of this site before so I MUST check it out! I'm pretty random when it comes to where I shop for workout clothes. Sometimes is Dicks Sporting Goods other times it's Athleta and other times it's Target!

Woah Jody, for a second there I thought you started working for Roadrunner or somethin'

You should ask them for a 6 figure salary, since I think you'd help them sell a shit load of shoes.

Whoohoo! Thanks Jody! Can't wait to try it out!!!!!!!!!!

I know what I'll be spending my afternoon doing-checkin' out. Yikes, hope I don't end up buying too much...

I have a store similar to the one you were talking about where they analyze your foot and watch you run called Running Wild. They helped me find the right shoe that fits my style (so I don't get shin splints!)

Congrats on the new do! You deserve it girl...and yes, it IS a good feeling, I don't care who ya are!

I've never heard of that site, but I will check them out for my future needs. I just bought a new pair of Nike's which should be good enough for me for now since I'm just now starting to incorporate jogging and running. I would absolutely LOVE to be fitted for a pair though. My right foot is bigger than my left so that makes it difficult finding a comfy pair.

I was just analyzed and bought two pairs at 26.2 Running Company. Love my shoes. No need to break them in. Again, love my shoes.

We are on a budget, but the extra money for quality shoes to relieve pain and prevent problems is worth it.

Did you know quality shoes have different materials that make up the mechanics and support system of the shoe whereas in cheaper shoes, the support system is painted on; it's all the same cheap material but just painted to look like the real thing?

I usually get my shoes from the chain chain sporting goods store. I tend to like Nike the best so that's what I stick with. It is so important to have shoes that fit and are fresh. The running shoes seem to get tired so fast!

Diane, yes, so important to have shoes that fit & match what you are doing. I have a lot of friends that love their Nikes but Nike does not have a shoe that works with my crazy feet!

Yup, I wear my shoes into the ground pretty fast!

I got my new shoes at Fleet Feet. They were very helpful and said if I have any issues after running in them for awhile I could take them back and try something else. Pretty cool

And tons of people mentioned roadrunners on my post the other day. I may have to check them out.

    Have a great weekend!

Shoes - the most important to me. Very early on in my weight loss and journey to better health, someone suggested that I go to a specialty running store and be fitted for shoes. GREAT SUGGESTION that made a huge difference. They watched me walk and run and then we tried lots of different styles. Greg @ Phidippides in Atlanta is my trusted sole!
