Believe In You!

Last Friday, I posted the quote below:
To really change your behavior, you need to believe that you can do it. This belief in oneself is called self-efficacy — an individual's belief in his or her ability to succeed at something. Without it, you have less of a chance of successfully changing your behavior. So be confident in the New Year!
Also, I saw this wonderful post by Cammy of Tippy Toe Diet fame. It was her December 23, 2009 post. This quote came from a calendar she had received:
Let each finish line be a fresh start.
Let there always be one more race to be run...
one more rung to reach...
the next novel waiting to be written...
a career change to be dared...
a higher mountain to climb...
Unexpected Love waiting to walk into your life...
dance steps to be learned...
the most daring adventure still to plan...
another painting waiting on the palette.
Let every safe harbor be a place to rest up, not rest on your laurels,
before you set off again for unknown jeopardy and joy.
Broken heart? Turn it into a happy beginning.
Layoffs looming? Start working your resume.
Empty nest? Try your own wings.
Sign up for Yes! instead of hanging on to yesterday.
Yes! to the blind date, the scary new job in another city, the next level of yoga.
Ready, Set, Yes!
Cammy then went on to say this: I've had so many changes in my life over the past few years, but most of them were positive, largely because I learned to say Yes! to life, every single day. To give myself permission to be successful, to change, to grow. I plan to do it again next year, too, and I hope you'll join me. Paraphrasing from the calendar this time: We might flop or we might fly, but we might as well try.
What a great attitude & we can all learn from Cammy and this quote! Cammy's posts, like many of you, always seem to show this part of her... say YES I can.
I think Cammy has just articulated my challenge for 2010: She learned to say Yes! to life, every single day. To give herself permission to be successful, to change, to grow. Per Cammy's post: Paraphrasing from the calendar this time: We might flop or we might fly, but we might as well try.
I also got a comment from Julie & read this great post on her blog: Just for Today

"We might flop or we might fly, but we might as well try." I like that a lot, what a great attitude to have! Thanks for sharing

So wisely said. My affirmation for 2010 is I live! I guess that means I am saying yes to my life! Which feels pretty darn good! What am I doing to give myself permission? Trying new things. Breaking the old saying of you can't teach a dog new tricks. This old dog is wide open to the possibilities!
Stepping out and having fun is the first order of business. Enjoying today!
Good luck to everyone in their efforts to change.

We don't want no flip floppers this year, only flop flyers!
I need more sleep

Dr. J, LOVE THAT COMMENT! Too funny! I hear you on sleep. I am not a doc but my workout hours are crazy!

Aw, thanks so much, Jody! I'm hoping we all have a full year of flying!

I love to try things. Sometimes I am afraid and I have had my share of flops, some of them big time flops. I learned from everything, though.
My husband told me yesterday to go for something and I just might do it.

Lori, I am good at trying the fitness stuff.. just not the outside of fitness stuff!
Will you try bodybuilding??? I did that in my late 30's!

Great quote, and as usual, you manage to find things to inspire me!
This year is going to be a weird one for me I think--the start of some new things, the end of some old ones that will be hard to say goodbye to.
Will try to go into it with a positive attitude--quite a challenge for a Crab!

Crabby, may be a year changing time for many of us! Yes, the positive attitude is the hard part & for me, the fear!

Only those who try succeed. If we don't ever try to fly how will we know if we can or not. Positive attitudes are half the battle!

Diane, you are right. I have done that in many parts of my fitness endeavors & yes, a little outside of fitness, but some things stalled me. I need to get past that.

Wow what a great post! There are many things I have found myself afraid to try. The biggest one on my list now is riding my bike. It's been sitting in the garage since I bought it over a year ago...I'm so afraid I'm gonna fall and make a fool of myself that I just can't get on the thing! So, I've vowed to do it this year and this post just inspires me even more to just say YES!
2010 - the year of YES!

Josie. YES to YES! I hope you get on that bike! Being older than many of my readers, I can say that I have not done things & wish I had. You are young & able.. go for it!
