Product Review: Blender Bottle By Sundesa
I was reading a great article about making your cakes, muffins & treats a power house to fuel your body. What you say?? How can this possibly be???? Cook with protein powder, that is how it can be reality! YES!

In previous posts, I have provided great recipes that included protein powder like my
homemade protein bars, peanut butter fudge protein bar, no bake protein bars and more, protein power pumpkin cookies and more! See my side bar under recipes & I am still trying to classify the older recipes that I never got to way back when! Thx FJ!

Well, this article I was reading said there is debate over whether protein powder is still effective after being cooked. I never even thought about this nor have I heard it was a problem! Well, according to Amy Goodson, M.S. RD, certified in sports dietetics at Ben Hogan Sports Therapy Institute, the protein molecule may change with high heat but it does NOT decrease the amount of protein available to the body. Extreme heat or cold changes the protein's form, but it does not lose any amino acids (these are the building blocks of muscle). Your body just digests it differently." She suggests replacing 25% of the flour with protein powder to up the protein in your baking recipes. Mix the protein powder in with the dry ingredients & follow the rest of the recipe. She also says results may vary depending on the type of protein powder you use, like "you may get a slightly a sturdier product." There are different types of protein & you can read my post on that here:
Which Protein is Best. Goodson also says to look for protein powders with leucine which is more easily absorbed & leads to faster recovery & muscle building. "Whey contains the most leucine followed by milk protein, egg protein and soy protein. I say, let's go bake!!!!

BUT, if you need to shake it up, check out this
great shaker bottle review over at FJ's Flawless Fitness Blog. There is even a video showing him using it!!!! He says this: So it’s built well and performs even better and while imposing an easy clean up. Then there is the price, a measly $8.99. Right now I have to say that I’m completely stumped because as far as I can tell, the Blender Bottle is almost completely without fault. I mean it’s even available with a boat load of colors to match your gym shorts, or gym bag or tank top or your eyes or whatever else you might want to match. They have a StayOpen Flip Cap™ and the idea behind it is that when you go to drink from the cup and tilt it towards your face, the lid won’t come slapping down on your nose. Good news for Pinocchio! Personally I think this is great and it shows a great attention to detail which they have put themselves through. Awesome. And the good news keeps on coming. The entire bottle is made from BPA free plastics so you won’t have to worry about your balls shrinking, growing and extra eye or your kids turning retarded. I like it when companies care about their customers like that, great stuff.

I have used some shaker bottles & they were pretty bad so if you are on the go & need a better one, head over to FJ's blog. Remember, FJ is FJ & does "say it like it is" so don't be offended by the way he writes .. he has great info over there!

Lastly, GREAT NEWS! I won the
Inperspire Towel Saying Contest over at GirlGetStrong! Thanks to all of you that voted for me!!!! I am so excited! It may take up to 4 weeks for the towel to be available. If you want to check out their towels, here is Inperspire's site. They are what they call sweat towels with a purpose & you might find a nice gift for your fitness friends or family member! OR, a saying may be just right for you & you can buy yourself a little present!

OK, hit me up with any power protein recipes you want to share OR horror stories about protein shake shaker bottles. For those that are good cooks or bakers, pass on any words of wisdom. You probably can make your own changes to recipes easier than a BAD cook/baker like me.. but I try! I usually always add protein powder to things I am baking to up the protein but they do not always come out the best! Good enough for me but others may not feel that way!

Way to kick ass in the towel contest Jody. Take some pics of it once you get it.

Hmm protein recipe. I used the blender bottle recently to make some high-protein pancake mix. Those were orgasmic with REAL maple syrup. Then I passed out for like an hour but that's ok.

Glad you found the review useful.

Sian, thank you & thx for having that contest!

Personally, I don't smell or taste the protein powder when I cook with it BUT I am not very picky about the taste of my food. I almost always use vanilla too.

COngrats on the contest. I have heard of using protein powder in certain recipes. The key is being mindful of how it's taste is going to affect the overall flavor, especially where flavored powders are used and remembering that is is water soluble. It will not bind in the same way a flour will. Experimentation can be fun and you will figure it out pretty quickly. Personally, I often replace ingredients like sour cream or mayonaise with fat-free greek yogurt. It boosts the calcium and protein in whatever I am making. Also, the bottle is fantastic.. have one! It's the only one I have or need.

    Congrats Jody!

Protein powder blends seamlessly into any of my meatloaf recipes -- as though more protein would be needed in meatloaf.

Just as seamlessly into any chili recipe -- as though more protein would be needed in chili.

But mostly, I use it stirred into my oatmeal on the mornings I eat oatmeal, and YES, it can be tasted, and YES it can be pasty, and YES, I eat for function not for flavor, so who cares if it's pasty?

Funny thing about this post; it made me realize I haven't had a protein drink in years -- I use powder to cook only.

Roy, I am like you.. I mix it into all kinds of things. Yes, oatmeal too although I find the taste of mine fine. I add some cinnamon & sometimes blueberries or some other seasoning. Taste good to me!

I have not made a smoothie in a while either. Although, FJ used the bottle for his pancake mix but you can do salad dressings & other things in it.. not just protein drinks!

CONGRATULATIONS! I'm so glad you won. I really need to get a protein powder. I know I need more protein since I eat very little meat. I do eat a lot of beans, etc. though.
