In Memory of Mom; Saturday Funny for Her

Saturday, November 21, 2009

Three years ago today, my mom passed away from liposarcoma, a rare cancer. I have posted many times about it & you can read one of them here and more about sarcoma here. Today I am remembering her with a poem I read it at her memorial service:

That’s about it for now. I’m off to dance in the clouds,

sing at the end of the rainbow and travel at the speed of thought. When you least expect it, I’ll pay you a visit.

Please do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn’s rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Please do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there, I did not die.

I ended by saying this: That if you are out anywhere, at home, whatever you may doing … if you think, “I sure wish Rae were here to tell that to or see this with me”  OR I sure wish Rae heard that or saw that …. Think back to this poem & realize that she is always with you & will be enjoying your happy times with you as long as you keep her close to you in thought and in your heart.

I hope that this helps some of you that have lost loved ones.

And because my mom loved her food but insisted she was NOT eating that much, I follow with this Saturday Funny:
