Burn Major Calories; No Bake Protein Bars; Pediatric Cancer

So, I thought I would do another random post day & include a great recipe too! So, here we go!!!

1. Burn Major Calories at Home with only 4 Moves! Over at GirlGetStrong, another great video of four moves you can do either at home or the gym or on travel that will work your full bod big time! The four moves are done as a circuit so you go thru each move once, one circuit, and then do that circuit 4 times! Put your all into this & KEEP PROPER FORM as always. If you don't have an exercise band for that part, use a dumbbell, medicine ball or anything else you have at home that would be about the right weight for you although the continuous tension of the workout band is awesome! If you don't have dumbbells, again use water bottles, bags of sugar or flour, canned veggies or anything else but make sure both hand weights weigh the same! I am not sure if this actually burns 500 calories BUT it is gonna give you a good workout & tighten you up too! BUT the video said 500 calories!

This workout will come in handy for crazed times during the holiday too!

PS: GirlGet Strong redid their site & the link is different than the old one so save the new link above to your favorites.

2. No-Bake Protein Bars - Makes 8 servings. Man, how we all love that no-bake stuff...Well, I do & I know Crabby does!!! This comes from Oxygen Women's Fitness Magazine. Yes, again! I could eat this any time of day as one of my mini meals! YUM! If you can't read the "Cheap Energy" part in the pic, it says: 1 Tbsp of PB costs just 7 cents but is rich in healthy fats, which can prevent you from overeating.

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups quick cooking oats
  • 1/2 cup natural peanut butter
  • 4 scoops protein powder (they suggested vanilla or cookies 'n' cream flavors but I guess you can do what you think you would like)
  • 1 Tbsp ground flaxseeds
  • 1/2 cup water

Directions:

  • Knead all ingredients in a large bowl
  • Line square baking pan with wax paper. Spread dough into pan using a spatula. Optional: spread a thin layer of PB on top (which will change the nutrition facts obviously)
  • Freeze 30 minutes
  • Remove from freezer & cut into bars

Nutrients per serving: Calories:230, Total Fats: 10g; Saturated Fat: 2g; Trans Fat: 0g; Cholesterol: 15mg; Sodium: 20mg; Total Carbohydrates: 21g; Dietary Fiber: 4g; Sugars: 3g; Protein: 15g; Iron: 2mg

3. Cookies For Cancer. I saw this on The Today Show & wanted to share since it is a time when people bake & cookies are a big part of that baking!!! Glad is sponsoring this. Part of the site says:

"Cookies for Kids' Cancer™ is dedicated to raising funds to support research for new and improved therapies for pediatric cancer. Through the concept of local bake sales, Cookies for Kids' Cancer™ provides the inspiration and support for individuals, communities and businesses to help fight pediatric cancer.

It's a powerful model to fight all pediatric cancers. Like all bake sales, a Cookies for Kids' Cancer™ bake sale starts as a way to collect a simple donation in exchange for a cookie or other baked good. Through the simple concept of holding a bake sale under the banner of Cookies for Kids' Cancer™, individuals, schools, churches, synagogues, clubs and businesses have the ability to raise thousands of dollars and directly support research at Comprehensive Cancer Centers across the country."

Click on the site above & also here, Glad to Give, for more information. This is also a great thing to get kids involved in to learn about helping & giving to those less fortunate than them!

So, I hope that you enjoyed my 3 random posts today. Let me know what you think of the workout & the recipe.
