Egg White Rollups; What Eco Egg Labels Mean; Dentist Update

1. So, I thought I would update you on my trip to UCLA on Tuesday for my dental appt. & how it all went down. I got on the road about 5:45am to be safe. Instructions said that if you are late, you may not be able to get in sooooooo, being southern California & crazy traffic, better safe than sorry! My hubby went with me & he was not too happy about getting up that early! Anyway, we hit the road & it happened to be the first day we have had dense fog in a long while! UGH! Luckily there were no accidents on the road & we got up there in plenty of time. There was LOTS & LOTS OF WAITING! Signed in at 7:30 but none us got called in until after 8am. This resulted in a check by the head faculty member to look at what is going on in the mouth & evaluate whether to send you for x-rays as they do NOT accept all cases. He said too little or too much to be done may disqualify you. I got through! After another 1 hour wait, I went in for my full mouth x-rays which took about 40 minutes. About 40 minutes after that, I was told the x-rays looked good to use & that I would be contacted by my dental student assigned to me for further action. What does that mean? I go up again for another talk & review appt. before work even begins!!!! YIKES! Lots of waiting there & to get work done! I will see what they have to say & evaluate if this is right for me then.
What I do know: I need gum work (already knew that), need dental work (already knew that), need bite work.... wait, WHAT??? I can tell you for 20+++ years I have had every dentist ask me, "Is that your real bite?". It never failed & some asked me multiple times!!! Now after all these years, this faculty lead told me that it has been causing probs all along & luckily it is not past the point of fixing! Whew! Why did I not hear this from any other dentist that asked about my bite!!?? So, that is what I know so far & I will keep you updated!
One good thing, my hubby's brother works in the IT department at UCLA so my hubby spent all that waiting time with his brother & did not have to sit in the waiting room for 3.5 hours plus! Even had lunch with him so it worked out well for all!
Whisk 1/2 cup egg whites with a tablespoon of chocolate protein powder (or flavor of your choice). Cook the eggs like a crepe. When cooked, add a tablespoon of peanut or almond butter (or another nut butter of your choice), sprinkle with cinnamon (or another spice of your choice) and roll it up like a crepe. Eat away & enjoy!!!! See how easy it is to make some of these recipes to suit your taste buds!!!
3. Also, here is the skinny on eggs from Ideal Bite:
So, on the dentist, more to come on that. Hope you enjoy the recipe & enjoy it for breakfast, lunch or dinner!

What a nice hubby you have! Dentist work is not fun at all...also thanks for the eggs tips..I usually buy the cheapest but I may have to re-think that!

I hope things go well for you at UCLA Dental School, Jody! Unfortunately, their main function is to train dental students (as is the medical/dental school here). Their second function is to treat patients. If it all seems problematic to you, see if either grad students or faculty at the school can treat you. It will cost more, but may still be less than private practice. I hope this is helpful.

Dr. J, thx for the tips! I think I read that somewhere too. Yes, my hubby's bro said that the students are very methodical & more time because they want to do it right. Thx again!

FJ, you are right, eggs are no longer "bad" for you... some people like to do half & half.... whatever floats your boat!
Yeah, my bite.. HA! Can be bad if I get mad!

Good news. I would have been really mad if they turned you down.

I'm glad that you were accepted. I hope you won't have to go back tons of times because that traffic might get to you after a while!
That recipe looks amazing. I'm getting ready to make my grocery list right now!

Sian, I hear you on cost.. sometimes this stuff we read makes us rethink, doesn't it!
Josie, THX!
Diane, you are so right on the drive! I don't know how much I will take BUT I did it for a lot of months when my mom was sick with cancer. We had to go to UCLA for that.

Glad you were accepted too! But man, all the labels and variations on poultry and eggs makes me feel like I need to carry around a little list explaining all the terms. And I really, really don't want to learn what 'beak-cutting' is, but am afraid I'm going to end up googling it. Ugh!

Thanks for the info on the eggs, I find buying eggs a bit confusing. I buy eggs that are free of antibiotics and hormones. Organic eggs are great, but very expensive, so I usuallly buy free range as long as they are labeled free of antibiotics and hormones.

Well, I am glad to read you at least got in. I hope they are able to provide the services you need.
The tidbit about eggs is similar to something I ran across about two years ago. Essentially the classifications mean very little. Kind of sad.
