Natural Sweeteners; Healthy Recipe; Sweet Potato Chips

Happy October to all! Man, where has the time gone!!!! I can't believe we are here already.. my beloved fall season with molasses ginger cookies, pumpkin bagels & cookies, spice cookies, pumpkin bread .... OH CRAP, I digress. This is a health & fitness blog, right??? SORRY!
1. I first want to talk about alternatives to Splenda, Equal & those products. I know many of you out there stay clear of them. I, personally, have tried Stevia & it upset my stomach so I can't use it. If you go to WebMD & search Stevia, you can get tons of articles on it. Currently I am still using Splenda. I know! You want to smack me, right! We all make decisions for ourselves & right now I am still trying to find an alternative that is low cal since I like things sweet BUT will NOT bloat me!
I was at Whole Foods "
I also found this packet, SweetFiber. This product's ingredients are inulin (natural vegetable fiber), luo han guo (fruit extract) and natural flavor. Per their site, there are no calories per packet. I have not tried it yet.
I know Truvia has been out there for a bit. I have not tried that either but wrote about it on a post a while back. You can search WebMD on this too.
Just offering up some things for review & to check out. I did not find SweetFiber on WebMD but lots about stevia.
2. Healthy Recipe: Here is another recipe from Oxygen Women's Fitness for Fish Pockets. My feeling on this recipe is you can really change it up by using chicken or another fish, different veggies, chicken broth or something else instead of wine & more. I just liked the premise of how easy it was to do!
INGREDIENTS:
• 1 small tomato sliced
• 1 small onion, sliced
• 12 oz white fish
• 1 small zucchini cut into 1/4-inch cubes
• 1/4 cup white
• Mrs. Dash lemon pepper
• 1 lemon
INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat oven to 375. Fold two sheets of foil into pockets, turning up the sides so it doesn’t leak. Divide all ingredients in half and layer tomato slices, onion slices, fish and zucchini cubes, in that order. Pour the white wine over layers, then sprinkle with Mrs. Dash. Squeeze lemon juice over top. Close foil, place pockets on a shallow baking pan and bake for 20 minutes or until fish flakes easily with a fork and zucchini is tender.

3. Sweet Potato Chips in the Microwave-1 Point Weight Watchers Recipe

Remember not too long ago I posted the microwave potato chips from Girl, Get Strong. Well, here is sweet potato ones! They followed the same directions except peeled the sweet potato. If you missed the recipe, here it is again switching to the sweet potato.
Ingredients:
1 sweet potato peeled
Directions:
- Slice the potato really thin. I used the side of my cheese grater and they came out paper thin.
- Spray them with oil spray(season with preferred flavoring)
- Spread on a single layer on parchment paper
- Place them in the microwave on high heat for about 5 minutes until start turning brown. Depending on your microwave, you may need more time. Keep a close eye on them.
They only seasoned them with salt. They said they didn’t want anything to interfere with their lovely naturally sweet taste.
Also another portion control warning: only 3 oz of chips makes for a one point weight watcher snack!
OK, there ya are... more random posts for the day. I really want to try that pocket trick with chicken! Has anyone done this before. You all know I am NOT a cook as I post about so often so send me your words of wisdom for this technique.
Also, has anyone tried Sun Crystals or SweetFiber yet? If yes, what are you thoughts on them?
OH, GUEST POST TOMORROW... STOP ON BY!

This belongs in a recipe category! Ha! Beat you to it this time.
Splenda is... meh. Studies have shown it to be OK but the mere fact that it has a a chlorine-like molecular structure kind of upsets me. This is not to be confused with chloride.
Haha, speaking of Weight Watchers... I crank called them a while back with a few buddies asking them to help be gain weight. I'm like "yo... so if I eat like 1000 points a day will I get jacked?"
I should do it again and post a recording on the blog. Instead of saying they got punk'd I can say they got "Jerked". Whatdya think? >8)

Thanks for all the great info!
I'm using mostly Truvia now, and it seems to work fine--not quite as sweet as splenda or equal. Haven't tried to cook with it, but it works well in coffee and tea. I hated pure stevia; this tastes much better. However, I don't know what they did to it to refine it; hope it's still basically natural and safe.

Wow! Great looking recipes!!
I still use the "pink" stuff, but minimize the yellow and blue??
We live in a chemical bath! It's not a good thing, but it is overwhelming
