Peace is Needed!

Sunday, September 27, 2009

My sister, Bethe, sent this to me Monday & I wanted to share it with you. I liked the mantra at the end of this. She received this from a friend of hers and I think it has a very good message. I hope you all agree. I also saved it for today because it is the 10th anniversary of my father's death. It is a hard day & I need peace to get through it!

International Peace Day.

This is a cause that is special to my heart.
I have struggled with anger and hatred since
November 2000.  With each new day, the
battle rages on within me.  Some days anger
wins.  But on the really good days, Peace wins.
Peace is not easy, anger is. That's why Peace
is so hard to come by.

Currently we live in a time of "us & them". We
hear it everyday, on the news, in the workplace,
while chatting with friends.  We feel it when we're
in the car & someone cuts us off.  We revel in it
when we're at a sporting event. As for politics,
need I say more?

My sister-in-law & my dear friend, Linda and I
worked on a Peace Project in 2007. It was a
good effort.  We came up with the phrase...

Peace for You, Peace for Me, Peace for ALL.

It's a little mantra, a little prayer, and honestly,
if you're upset & you say it, it will help calm
you down.  It's hard to stay angry when you're
invoking words of Peace.

So today, I wish Peace for you all.

I don't think people understand how anger, hatred, and also bitterness and unforgiveness can eat away at a person. Peace is needed.

    Thanks, Jody!

Today is a day to remember what a great person my dad was. Also, how much we miss him.
My good friend, Mel, aka Melonie, is the creator of the Peace mantra referenced above. She's such a extremely talented woman and a wonderful person.

Thank you for the peace mantra.

They say holding onto hatred is like drinking poison and waiting for your enemy to die. Peace is the best option.

The us and them thinking imprisons our minds. Peace sets us free

with all that's been going on with me this past summer.. peace was a gift i HAD to give myself. i think some people were amazed i held together so well. i was fortunate enough to learn a while ago to "let things go". if they are out of my control, i can only try, but not obsess over it, and move on.

    peace be with you!
