Cherry Green Tea Smoothie

Saturday, July 11, 2009

Well, most of us have read & heard about the many benefits of green tea.. everything from fighting cancer to fighting heart disease. Read more about this from this article at WebMD, Green Tea Health Benefits. You can even search more articles here.

Anyway, I saw this recipe for a Cherry Green Tea Smoothie in Oxygen Women's Fitness & thought I would share it with you. Since I am not a fan of tea & would still like to get the benefits of it, I might just try this out to see if it masks that tea taste. I think it might!!! Check out the recipe below:

CHERRY GREEN TEA SMOOTHIE - Makes 2 servings

1 cup green tea
1 cup frozen cherries
1 cup 2% Greek yogurt
1 cup soy protein powder

Put all ingredients in a blender & blend until smooth.

Nutrients per serving: Calories - 235; Total Fats - 3g; Saturated Fat - 2g; Trans Fat - 0g; Cholesterol - 8mg; Sodium - 193mg; Total Carbohydrates - 29g; Dietary Fiber - 3g; Sugars - 23g; Protein - 23g; Iron - 2mg

Of course, you can change this up to suit your own taste buds like changing the fruit in it, using non fat yogurt vs. the low fat yogurt or using your own type of protein powder. ENJOY!
