Fit at 51's Weekend - Breathe!
First & foremost, I want to thank all of you for your responses to my post yesterday! I will take your comments to heart & keep posting about whatever hits me for that day & I will try to get those words in my brain down on the computer the best I can!!!I thought I would first give you a peek into my less than exciting weekends BUT quite honestly, that is fine with me! After too many years of craziness working long hours PLUS my hubby has very long hours now, I relish in doing nothing a lot! I think I could go on for years making up for the "no time available" from those long work hours of the past! Since my hubby sleeps later than me on the weekends, we got out a bit late Saturday & had a stop by my stepdaughter's work first. She is still doing boot camp 5 days per week & she looks great! From there, it was all R&R (except for some grocery shopping)! We had some time just sitting & me reading some fitness stuff & having my flavored coffee & cookie! YUMMY!
Sunday always (or most Sundays) start with a very early outside jog for me. This is my one day out of the gym & it is a longer jog (NOT RUN!) & like it early before the cars get out! My hubby plays roller hockey on Sundays so he had a later morn game & I did a couple errands while he was there. After that, a movie!!!! We saw Terminator since we are a fan of those movies. Aside from being WAY TOO LOUD even for this lady who has some hearing issues, it was entertaining!
So, as I sat there, I thought that if you go to a movie & it is not too crowded, why not make use of some of the time WITHOUT missing any of the movie. I was doing alot of ankle & foot rolls to help with the longer jog from the morning. Hey, if you want, you can also do some butt squeezes, ab contractions and even calf raises or shin raises to strengthen those areas. Just be careful on the calf & shin stuff to not go on forever & even with no weight, you are going to have probs the next day if you do that!!!
Hey, that was my weekend.... not exciting but perfect for me. Who says that we have to always be doing something! Check out my pic for today. Does that look good or what!!! A lesson learned!
Now, before I go, I want to offer up a link before I forget about it. MizFit had a cool post last week on her One Word challenge. She challenged her readers to come up with their 1 word. Mine was BELIEVE. I need to believe in myself more! Well, if you ever watch The 4th hour of The Today Show, Hoda wears a breast cancer ring from when she was battling breast cancer. It was her word to get her through it all. The ring says: FORWARD. This was her thought process as she was battling cancer. To always move forward. I thought you & MizFit would appreciate that! If you buy the ring at the previous FORWARD link for $5, $2 goes to breast cancer research!
So, not a ton about my fitness stuff but a bit about myself today! I don't mind being boring!!! Thx again for your kind thoughts!

Id missed that segment with Hoda and the ring. VERY COOL.
Im such a word person that it is amazing how powerful a few letters can be in my life.

I am so with you on the boring weekends. Most of the time, we never even leave the house. We work in the garden, watch a netflix movie, have extra long "coffee talks", read, cook, and eat. And I honestly can't think of anything else I would rather do!

I'm glad to hear someone else is like me and enjoys just taking it easy on the weekend. I love just hanging out in the backyard with my hubby and 2 furbabies, enjoying a glass of wine, reading or just watching 48 hours mystery! We are so exciting!

R&R weekends are the best! I have been enjoying them the past few months hyst catching up on the weeks tivo'd shows or renting a flick. I feel more rejuvenated and ready to accomplish things during the week.
I am, however going to try the movie exercises...why not get a lil fitness in when you're sitting on your tush.

I learned the calf raise lesson the hard way. Thought it would be fun to do them while I washed dishes, and it was, but I should've stopped at 50.
Glad you had such a restive/restorative weekend!
