Cancer Fighting Foods & Give Aways!
I guess I am kind of making this a cancer fighting week due to mom's bday this past Thursday & as you all know, she passed away from cancer. On the Care2 site, they had an article on Cancer Fighting Foods by Melissa Breyer. The article states:"We hear a lot of advice on what to do to avoid cancer–and with around 1,444,920 new cases of cancer a year, according to the American Cancer Society–it’s no wonder why. One of the easiest and most effective ways to promote good health and to help protect against cancer is with your diet. In fact, The American Cancer society estimates that one third of all cancer deaths might be diet-related.That means watch out for junk food, and embrace healthful food. The foods on this list, prepared by the Cancer Cure Foundation, have the ability to help stave off cancer and some can even help inhibit cancer cell growth or reduce tumor size. The list is not complete–there are other anti-cancer edibles–but this features the all-stars and is an excellent starting point." Here is the list & you can read the full article on the benefits at the link above.
Vegetables: Broccoli; Cabbage; Cauliflower; Carrots; Kale; Mushrooms: shiitake, maitake, reishi, Agaricus blazei Murill, and Coriolus Versicolor; Seaweed and other sea vegetables; Sweet potatoes

Top 5 Foods for Healthy Skin: To have truly healthy skin from the inside out you absolutely have to think about what you are feeding it. Be sure you are using skin care and cosmetic products that are safe (free from harmful ingredients) and right for your skin type. But don’t stop there, your diet definitely shows up in your complexion.
10 Superfoods for Spring: The article states: "I’m the first to admit that the term “superfood” gets thrown around a lot in the media and marketing, but that doesn’t mean we should turn our backs on the bursting-with-nourishment, lovely, potent, and delicious foods that fall under the moniker. Especially when these foods are known to lower cholesterol, reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer, and, while we’re at it, put you in a better mood."
