1 Floor Challenge/Money Saving Tips

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

Before I start, I have to give a "shout out" to my oldest granddaughter, Sydney. She turned 10 years old today! Amazing how time flies! Happy Birthday Sydney!

Now, I always post about how little things can add up to big results. For example, I have posted in the past about rather than do no exercise in a day because you "are too busy", break it up into 10 or 15 minute increments, 3 times a day. Just put all your effort into those 10 or 15 minutes. Anything is better than nothing! Also, if you "mess up" at lunch, don't give up for the day or the week even. Don't convince yourself to wait until Monday to get back on track. GET BACK ON TRACK RIGHT THEN! No need to wait! I also post about parking farther away from your destination or not so close to the store and getting those extra steps in (as long as it is safe).

So, saying all this, Diet Detective had a short article on the 1 Floor Challenge. The challenge is:

"Go up EVERY flight of stairs that is one flight or less. This is a must do - in your own office building, coming off of public transportation and every place you visit that has two stories or less. If there is an escalator next to the stairs, take the stairs - every time." Now saying this, be sure you are safe when you do this. If you feel at all uncomfortable with your surroundings or do not feel safe, then please, pay attention to that. Read the short article at the above 1 Floor Challenge link.

I also wanted to take time out to provide a link on money saving tips for buying your food and staples. We are all in very tough times right now so we can take help anywhere we can get it! Hungry Girl had a great post on some tips for you. I have posted before about some of these so some may be familiar. For example, if you are a fan of those 100 calorie packs, why not by the large bag/box & portion them up yourself in small baggies. Also, Costco, Sam's Club etc. have great deals. I know some of you may not need the 15 cans of beans or the super huge pack of chicken. Think about either freezing things that you can OR do you have a friend/friends or family member that might want to split the items up with you. I already posted about the pros of frozen veggies so don't be afraid of them & they can save you money as well! Read the full article about Money Saving Tips by clicking on the link.
